So we have always given LO a lot of freedom to move around in the house, but now that the weather is nice and we are taking him to places like the beach and the pool he wants to do the same thing in public. Last time we went to the beach he wandered into all the surrounding people's areas and fussed big time when we took him back to our area. Does any one else have this kind of go-go- go intrepid explorer and how do you contain them when you need to at places like the beach, etc.?
Yup! Same problem here. We probably won't take home to a restaurant for a while bc he wants to get down and walk around and screams if I don't let him same thing with going to a store.
I am probably buying a harness in the very near future to hopefully reduce the problem.

yeah, I have been thinking about the harness too. I know people can get judgy about the harness, but if it works I think I would be game. I am going to investigate. Let me know how it goes for you.
Same problem here. I try to distract as much as I can, as others have said. So glad you mentioned this. I was starting to think we were the only ones with this problem.
A is like this. She wants to roam about and do her own thing. I haven't found anything that works well.
I bought a harness and a backpack harness and she would not wear either. At the moment if I have to get something done I either bring someone to chase A or I hold her and race to get what I need done and as a rule that means I fail. Even walking to the park takes forever because she usually refuses her stroller and walls herself, stopping at every driveway to walk up and down it, stopping at rocks and flowers...etc. I use her carrier when I don't mind her falling asleep but even then when she wake up she is ready to run.
I do love her sense of adventure but it makes things so difficult.
Yep! We have this problem, and I have no solution! Taking him to the pool is a nightmare because he wants to walk up to every person there and dig through their bag. And restaurants? Forget about it. We went out to eat last week and I literally spen the whole time chasing him around and keeping him from walking under everyone's chairs. Looks like we won't be eating out again for awhile. :-/
OMG! R is really tough. He goes and goes until he literally falls down from exhaustion. He took out two displays at costco last weekend. For restaurants though we have made the switch to a booster seat. He seems less pissed off in that. Usually we eat really quickly though. I can't wait until he's old enough for soccer. Just want to let him loose.
Yup, our son is a maniac and he never stays in one place for more than a few seconds, unless we are feeding him. We went to the pool and I literally chased him around it for 2 hours.
