Still not eating!

DS refuses to eat purees.  Fine with me, BLW was the plan anyway.  He used to love sucking/nibbling on pears, mango... I've given him squash and avocado.. now he won't touch anything except puffs and cheerios.  So now I've stopped offering the puffs and cheerios, but he still just sits at the high chair without touching anything. I'm hoping it's just teething.. anyone else going through this?

Re: Still not eating!

  • BLW is inconsistent so there are days when he doesn't eat solid food and days he eats a lot.  I've thought it was teething but since he still has no teeth I'm convince teething "symptoms" are a farce.  Keep offering him different foods because he'll eat again.

  • what if you cut the food up into tiny little cheerio sized pieces?  maybe he is intimidated by the large pieces and doesn't like the consistency of purees.  If he does well with picking up cheerios, I'd cut them into bite sized pieces and give that a try.

Just try variety. Maybe do toast strips with avocado spread on them, or my DS's favorite, whole wheat banana muffins (I rip it up into small pieces).

this..my baby is not really good at long spears. he always misses and smooshes his face. he's better at teeny tiny vegetables.

  • D hates purées. So I've gone back to BLW. Today we did apiece of toast with peanut butter. She loves it. Since she likes toast. I'm gonna put my left over purées on it.

  • DS is also completely over purees.  Some recent favorites include toast, fried eggs, eggs in a basket, spaghetti, yogurt, potatoes, and chicken.  He also prefers smaller pieces than spears, since he still has no teeth.
