Subchronic hemorrhage- anyone ever have it?

Yesterday at 5 weeks 3 days, I started spotting. Brown for awhile, and then right before bed I had a gush of bright red. Scared me so badly. DH and I went to the RE and had a an ultrasound done this morning and was diagnosed with have SCH. He didn't put me on bedrest, but wants weekly ultrasounds. He said 3 out of 5 of his patients go on to have healthy babies.
I've been googling all day and I'm terrified. My spotting has slowed down significantly, and is a rust brown color mainly just when I wipe. Since this started so early in this pregnancy does that mean I'll miscarry? How long do these take to resolve? Personal success stores would be appreciated.

I was diagnosed with one at 13 weeks. Bright red bleeding and spotted for 2 weeks straight. So scary. Dr put me on bedrest but not all doctors do this. I now have a beautiful DD. I also bled/spotted from 8 weeks to 18 weeks with my DS. Im pretty positive it was an SCH but they could never find one on u/s. Ladies on high risk and PAIF have also been through it.

I had a SCH with DD which bled profusely when I was 14 weeks along (it was gone by the time I arrived at L&D but OB assumed the bleeding was from that).

I also had a SCH with this pregnancy. It was present at my 7 week u/s (so I may have had it as early as 5/6 weeks) but was gone by 10 weeks. I never bled, they guessed that it reabsorbed.

I was not put on bed rest, but I was put on pelvic rest. I took it easy on my own accord and now, with this pregnancy at 16 weeks, I don't have any concern about it.

Obviously every case is different, but I hope you can relax a bit! Keep us updated!

I had one with DH that started gushing somewhere around 7 weeks. I spotted on an off the entire pregnancy. It never got easier, but it was nice once I could feel him moving around for assurance! Good luck, I hope it absorbs easily and quickly!

Thanks ladies for sharing your stories. There's so many bad outcome stories when I googled. I just cross posted this on the high risk board. Will I be considered high risk from now on? Is it bad that they found it so early? From what I've read that seems to be the case.

I was not considered high risk and I was not put on bed rest. I'm a teacher, so I tried to sit more than stand on bleeding days. I was on pelvic rest for pretty much the whole pregnancy. I will say that when I switched from RE to OB, I called the OB about a more heavy bleeding day and they wound up giving me Rhogam more than once during the pregnancy just in case our blood was mixing. (If your family doesn't have the Rh +/- thing, that wouldn't be a big deal though.)

Thank you @Jenny935‌, good to know, very helpful. I'll have to ask my RE about pelvic rest, I'm assuming I'll be on that until this resolves, if I'm that lucky. I hear size and location of its important? I'll have to ask when I go back Friday.

It depends. Some drs would consider it high risk while others would not. Not sure about it being found earlier as a bad thing as opposed to finding it later. I did spot early at around 5 weeks with DD and it could have been the SCH then too. Not sure. Glad you will have weekly u/s to give some peace of mind. Hang in there. Hugs. Its scary but as long as I have been on these boards all the ladies with an SCH have gone on to have successful pregnancies. Hope that helps some.

That is a huge reassurance @imoverit‌ . Best news I've heard all day, it gives me hope. I have two toddlers, every chance I get I'm laying down or at least sitting. Trying to help as much as I can, figure it can't hurt.

I had an SCH at 5w (very early) and thought for sure I was miscarrying. It resolved within a couple days and I'm 31 weeks now. Good luck!!!

I had one at 7 weeks. I woke up one morning covered in blood--looked like a horror movie. Spotted for 6 weeks. Healthy twins at 35w6d. Take it easy and don't overdo it!

I had 4 of them 1 between the membrane and I bled for 16 weeks it was scary but I also went on bed rest. Try to lay down as much as possible and don't strain.

My SCH I had while pregnant with DD resolved after about three weeks, however, I was put on restrictions...no lifting, no intercourse, no swimming, no exercise...maybe I had an overprotective doc? Anyway, DD is here and perfectly healthy so I must've done something right. T&P to you. I know it's hard, but try not to stress too much.

I had one from weeks 10-12. It was scary. I was given modified BR. I took the first week as a precaution. That week, I saw the OBs 3 times. DD will be 7 weeks tomorrow. BFF also had one with her middle child.

Thanks ladies, the stories give me strength. I stopped spotting for 48 hours and then last night I had a small gush of red blood that then instantly turned back to brown, and is now gone. It's such a roller coaster of emotions. I'm trying to lay around as much as possible, it's so hard with two toddlers. I feel like a terrible mom.

Do you have help around like family? I felt like an awful mom this last pregnancy with DD because I was either on bedrest for bleeding or having other physical symptoms that made it difficult to interact with my 3 year old DS. He watched way more tv then he should have and spent more time with family than me. It was really hard. Now after having DD I am able to give lots of time and attention to DS. All this to say what you are going through is temporary. Give yourself permission to take care of you and baby while knowing your kiddos will be ok. Way easier said then done.

My wife had one at week 10. It was super scary. We thought she was miscarrying. She went on to delivery a healthy baby girl who is now 13 months.

Thanks guys! I went to see the RE for another check yesterday . At 6 weeks 1 day we saw our baby's heartbeat! The a SCH is still there and slightly smaller. On Monday it was 14mmx14mm. The RE said the important thing is that the baby is getting bigger and now lowered my chance of losing the baby to 10%. He says no bedrest or pelvic rest, just live life normally which scares me. I'll probably take things easier at least, no lifting, and lay down when I can. I might try to abstain from sex, DH won't be happy, but I'm just scared.
