Children's Songs

I've been trying to sing more songs with Sonya in hopes that it'll help her learn some words, but all I can think of are "Pat-a-Cake," "Tommy Thumb," and "Itsy-
Bitsy Spider."
What am I missing? Anyone have recommendations?

A friend taught her kids Puff the Magic Dragon. I don't know why, but that one gave me the giggles.

In addition to the above, good old ABCs and You Are My Sunshine (only first, non-depressing verse).

We do the ABC's and If. You're Happy and You Know it. For some reason I always want to sing her the preposition song.

I had so many suggestions last night, but my wireless keyboard wouldn't work for some reason. Almost all of the ones I was thinking of have been mentioned, so I'll just share one that I learned from a mom at the park one day. (I'm not sure of it's real name, but we call it Zoom, Zoom)

Zoom, zoom, zoom, we're going to the moon.
Zoom, zoom, zoom, we'll be there very soon!
Come with me and take a trip
    On our flying rocket ship.
Zoom, zoom, zoom, we're going to the moon!

Zoom, zoom, zoom, we're heading home soon.
Zoom, zoom, zoom, home from the moon.
Come with me and take a trip
    On our flying rocket ship.
Zoom, zoom, zoom, we're heading home soon!

  • My kids love "No more monkies jumping on the bed"...

I don't know what it's called but the one about the duck with the feather on his back... he led the others with quack quack quack. Whatever that song is called.

    "Where is Thumbkin?"
"The Hokey Pokey" - great for helping learn body parts.
"She'll be coming around the mountain"
    "Ring around the rosy"
    "London Bridges"
    "Do your ears hang low?"
    "The farmer and the Dell"
    "This Old Man"
"I've been workin on the railroad"

  • I love the Raffi songs: Apples and Bananas, Over in the Meadow, Baby Beluga... Warner loves Wheels on the Bus because you can do hand motions along with it! Same for "If you're happy and you know it"

  • Except for the one Raffi song... "There's a spider on my head oh I wish that I were dead?" Seems a little dramatic Raffi.
