Sorry for lack of paragraphs, the ipad can't handle that I guess. As DH and I approach IFV possibly later this year (we have a first consult with a new RE with better rates July 15) we've been slowly sharing our IF with more people that are close to us and that we feel deserve to know. I'm so glad I'm in a place emotionally now where the stupid stuff that people say entertains me more than it bothers me. I thought you ladies could appreciate the comments we got just today: 1.) DH stopped by his parents' place for something (we recently told them but haven't discussed much) and she brought it up, wanting to be sure we had tried having sex every day LOL. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall, but it sounds like DH did a good job clarifying that since we've spent 2.5 years and are about to invest 15K+ into IVF, that yeah, we probably already tried that and a few other things! 2.) I called my dad for Father's Day today and decided to tell him (my mom already knows but I'm not as close with my dad.) I didn't share much, just said that we've been trying for a couple years, and that we were probably going to need IVF. He replies, "so that must mean you're off birth control, right?" Wow...really dad?!? 3.) And since I know my dad might not be able to keep his mouth shut, I told my brother so he wouldn't be out of the loop. My brother is 24 and a bit of a wild child, dates/hooks up with plenty of girls but never attached. He says to me, "I'm starting to wonder if I might be having problems too" WTF??? I asked what the hell he meant and he said "well, there's probably been many times I should have gotten someone pregnant but it's never happened, so maybe I'm infertile." I just laughed, told him he probably wasn't, and that I hoped for his sake if he ever tries to have a child ON PURPOSE that he doesn't have to struggle. I think the average person really has no freaking clue as to how conception actually happens! Anyhow, I figured you ladies would appreciate these doozies!

Whoa there. Those are some doozies! Sorry you had to deal with that. I'm quickly starting to find out that people who have very nice manners and think before speaking in every other aspect of life, tend to be the opposite in this world. *hugs*

Gotta love the uneducation of the general public about IF.
My sister who I love but has always been about herself says to me, oh that is weird I don't know anyone who has been through that, it's just weird and then proceeds to talk about herself. A short time later she then asks what type of baby shower I want.. REALLY

My MIL is like that...telling my DH it is because I'm not eating enough yams and oysters....YEAH that will do the trick on my IF problems!
Oh...and my DH's boss who is aware of what we are going through told him just a few days ago after my DH shared with him it is very expensive to go through IF.....that he could do the IF procedure in his back yard for free...I was so disgusted when I heard that!
I've realized through all of this....PEOPLE ARE INSENSITIVE AND CRAZY! 8-}
