I have a nursing question

DS2 nurses at night only. I've been having a really hard time losing weight recently. I'm eating healthy and am under my calorie goals, I'm weight lifting (and have been since December) and am starting the cough to 5k. The scale will not move. The only thing I can think of is that my body is holding onto the fat since I'm still nursing. Is this/can this be true?

  • Yup, I lost all of 15 lbs with DS (I gained 80ish or was it 70?) until I weaned. Then boom it went.

I'm still nursing DD at least 3-4x a day and my weight has halted. I'm 20 away from my prepregnancy weight and 40 from my goal. I've lost 40 in 18 months and most was off within 12.

  • Can be true.
Wasn't true for me, because we weaned SOOO slowly.

  • Weaning? What is this weaning you speak of? I cannot get my 1 yr old off the tit.
DD didn't wean until 3.5 years.  I was beginning to think she wouldn't self-wean before kindergarten at the rate she was going!  But she just stopped of her own accord.

  • V will drink out of a straw sippy. Water. Only fucking water.
DD wouldn't drink milk until she weaned.  Now she likes it.  Well, she would drink almond milk before she weaned, but not cow milk.

  • I am in awe & amazement of all you ladies that nursed 2-3+ years. 3 kids & i have never made it past 7 months bc of supply & demand issues. Maybe this round will be different ...
  • I lost 5 when I finally weaned. I wish it was more...but the 5 did just fall off.

  • It's been 3 years since I stopped nursing and that weight, 10 lbs, still will not budge!

  • I can sooooooo relate to this!!! I initially lose 15 or 20 lbs in the week after the birth...but after that? Pretty much nothing until weaning. Mine have tended to self wean around 15-16 mos, and after that some weight seems to start coming off again. But until that point, i'm just stuck with extra fluff. Which is especially fun during bathing suit season.......... :(
