Newbie questions-thermometer brand and pre-seed?

Hello. I've lurked in the past but we weren't TTC yet, so not everything stuck. I need a refresher, please!

There's a thermometer mentioned on here at lot that's really quick. What was the brand? Newbie blog says Mabis. Is that the really fast/accurate one? I have one that takes 2 min and I end up falling asleep and then it falls out of my mouth (I temp at 4am).

Also, is that pre-seed stuff worth anything, or is it a gimmick? I have to use lube every time and we just use astroglide. I get the idea behind pre-seed, but I've never known anyone to use it. I don't want to waste the money if it's a marketing ploy thingy.

I have read the newbie blog but I did want some varied opinions. I'm all set up on FF and have some OPKs on the ready. Just need to get this stupid IUD out next week and get to it.

I'm not sure what the other ladies use, but I use a digital by Fairhaven Health (on amazon for $9). I've never thought about how long it takes, so it can't be too long. I'd say a minute, max.

As for Preseed...we've used it for the last 6 or so cycles, it hasn't been this miracle lube that I've heard it was, but I wasn't expecting much. I mostly use it because I don't get any EWCM. We also have this organic lube that we use sometimes (which I was told is also sperm friendly and was much cheaper).

Welcome!

Most lubes aren't sperm friendly. Preseed and ConceivePlus are. CP is the cheaper option and what we used when TTC DD.

Thanks everyone!

So I'm reading the amazon reviews (I'll paste my fave in a second). But wtf is this about an applicator? Normal lube, I just put it on H and then we go at it. Why is this so complicated to need an applicator??

The other reviews seriously are making it out to be some miracle thing. This one has to go bring everyone back down to reality.

"Works great as a lube. My husband and I both enjoy it but after four months of using the product we still aren't pregnant. I guess when I saw all the reviews of women getting pregnant during their first cycle with this product I got my hopes up. Will keep trying with the preseed as we do enjoy the lubricant anyway!"

We use pre-seed and yes a little goes a long way. No need for the applicator, it's junk anyways and causes you to use to much. I also love my mabis thermometer. It is quick and does the trick.

Personally, I think the preseed is helpful. At least in my case, I don't seem to have very much ew cm some months. The cycle I got pregnant we used preseed, so there's that. They give you the applicators because they want it to be close to your cervix to help out the sperm. But seriously, you really don't need very much of it because it really does make it like a slip n slide, we found that out the hard way!
I could be wrong about this, but I don't think astroglide is sperm friendly so you may want to switch.

Not unless you want some vacuum filters that don't even go with the vacuum you bought.

Although we do really enjoy our Zero water filter. But then again, we live in Houston and have really really shitty water.

Pretty much I'm crushing on the whole thread even Houstonians in Georgia @Puppylove84! What I wouldn't give for some **good** Mexican food right now or even a trip to HEB.

I know!! I would kill for some good queso! I was in Austin a couple weeks ago and I ate ALL the BBQ and Mexican food! I did discover that there's a Papasito's in Atlanta so I make DH take me every once in a while!

@puppylove84 I also think the Pappa's restaurants here are not as good as in H-town. Although they are better than nothing.

OMG BBQ! Where do y'all get it in ATL? We haven't found anywhere we like (we have tried Community and Burnt Fork in Decatur before we moved OTP). We actually named our dog after a TX BBQ chain.

Haha that's awesome! I haven't found anywhere as good as home, but I like Fox Bros. in Candler Park the best so far. I think the owners are from TX so it's the closest I've found here!

Damn, hate that I missed this conversation while I was at work!! Where's the original Chuy's? I'm originally from KY and that was my favorite Mexican place there. I've got to get to the original. I think the original Ninfas is my favorite here.

I kind of can't even deal with HEB. It's confusing to me! I miss Meijers really really bad.
