Pregnant after 35

Suggestions for face cleansers

I know my retinol is over for a while. and I'm assuming the super heavy duty, old lady face wash and creams that I use to battle everything from gravity to acne is a no go too.

And oh yea, I guess this time the freakin pregnancy gods have blessed me with hormonal skin and major breakouts! Good times, good times

What are you using and what sucks? I honestly don't even remember washing my face with DD let alone what I used. @-)

TIA!

Same stuff I have always used.  Midwife with DD said anything topical that did not go into blood stream was okay.  I used the clean and clear morning burst, the neutrogena foaming face cleaner (store brand version), and clean and clear zit medicine.  I was told all of those were fine so I will keep using them.  I use my bare minerals base lotion before I put on make-up.  You may want to check with what your OB says.  I brought mine to the first appointment.  The women in my family swear by the regular Oil of Olay cream and used it through their pregnancies.

  • Oil of Olay! That's right, I think that's what I switched to! Thanks!
  • Benzoyl peroxide is fine during pregnancy. I use a pimple cream daily. Always get bad acne in the summer and pregnancy is not helping. As far as wrinkles, not sure... Maybe use very intense moisturizers till after, since retinol is a no no...

I switched to the Desert Essence face wash with tea tree oil. It didn't prevent the hormonal breakouts, but it did help them clear up faster. My skin got really dry, too, so anything with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide just made my skin redder and flakey, on top of being riddled with acne.

I've stuck with the plain Oil of Olay for my moisturizer.

I used aveeno products during my pregnancy- they were great.
  • I LOVE Eminence!!! It's amazing!  A tad expensive but so worth it. The Stone Crop Gel Wash is my favorite and the Stone Crop Hydrating Mist is perfect for summer!
