So pissed

A family member liked a picture and it showed up on my news feed. I am posting the pic here. It was posted by chip and co if you want to find it.

I thought it was adorable. For whatever reason I clicked to read the comments. There are such hateful comments about the kid not being able to read yet and judging the parents for everything...not teaching her to read, spending the money on Disney, etc. One guy said the parents obviously should be saving for special education if the kid couldn't read yet, that the mother was too young, and the grandparents were probably illiterate too.

Stuff like that totally pisses me off. How can people spew such hatred at kids and their families? Did you see this article about the poor kid asked to leave KFC because her scars were distressing other customers???

WTF? Have people gone insane???

I agree with you that is pretty messed up. Those kinds of comments are rude, hurtful, and uncalled for. I am not sure what age the girl is but my guess would be around 4. I would think that most kids  learn to read around 6ish.
The topic you bring up is one of my biggest fears and stresses. I know my H and I can do a good job raising and loving our child. It is our society that I worry about. The world is so cruel and so hurtful sometimes. It is sad.

  • The photo is adorable and it wouldn't have occurred to me that the child was even old enough to read.

People can be really cruel and stupid.
  • The picture is so sweet. People are so dumb. Very few 3 year olds can read. If she's a bad mom than so am I. My 3 year old can't read either.

  • I really think some of them are trying to be funny. When did cruelty become an acceptable form of humor? Has it always been this way and we just see it more because of the net?

I think the photo is cute!

In regards to the KFC thing, I believe it was mis-reported by a blogger, and then it caught fire.  The whole thing about raising money before and now asking for more money is fishy.  That story doesn't have the ring of truth imho.

As much as I hate the idea someone would be so duplicitous, I really hope that you are right @MissMusic‌. Greediness isn't nearly as upsetting as emotional cruelty to kids.

  • I saw that picture myself and "liked" it.  People are so cruel and disrespectful.  What ever happened to being kind to your fellow man?  How are we supposed to raise kind and compassionate children when this is the type of rudeness they are all subjected to?
