No I can't bring the baby to the hospital

I have said this to my dad three times in the past few days. What is so hard to understand about this?

My dad's wife is In the hospital with an advanced kidney infection that has gotten into her blood. Unfortunately because this infection had gotten into her blood she will be in the hospital for a few days. She has a roommate with some sort of upper respiratory infection and really bad cough.

I am home with the baby and have no one to watch her right now other than my dad and his wife. I am not sure how many times my dad needs to suggest that I visit and for me to repeat that I cannot bring an 8-wk/old to the hospital, especially a ward full of sick infectious people. I mean what is so hard to understand about that?

I'd love to visit her but I think this is a valid reason not to, right?

Re: No I can't bring the baby to the hospital

  • I work at a assisted living home, and I won't even touch my daughter until I've showered, and my residents aren't even sick. No way would I go to the hospital with her.

My grandma was in the hospital with her husband for over a week (they live 2 hours away but they were in a hospital only 30 mins away from me) and they BEGGED for me to bring LO many times and even criticized me for not wanting to bring her. When her husband left the hospital he got phemonia (completely unrelated to his medical issues or the reason he was in the hospital to begin with). EXACTLY why I wouldn't bring a 6 week old baby to a hospital.... You made the right choice for sure!

Yeah, definitely a valid excuse. It's your responsibility to keep your baby safe and it sounds like you're doing a great job :)

Yeah I'm normally not paranoid about baby getting germs but there is no way I would bring the baby to the hospital with those conditions.

  • ask him to come to your house and watch the baby so you can go visit.  if he really wants to you visit that badly, he might be willing to trade like that.
