Update on Nana

Hi ladies! I planned on getting on here earlier and posting an update, but I had to stay late at work, and then I took a nap. I had less than 45 minutes of sleep last night, so I needed it!!!

Nana made it through the night!! The doctors didn't think this would happen yesterday afternoon, but she's tough!! She's not out of the woods yet, though. They think her heartattack was caused by a blood clot, but since we agreed to a DNR, we're not doing any invasive tests to verify. She was awake this morning, but she's still not lucid. She asked two or three questions, but that's it. Her blood pressure keeps dropping, but as of now she's stablized. The doctors told us she could die tonight or live like this for a year. It's basically just waiting now. They don't think she's in constant pain, so they are not keeping her doped up 24/7 (it just knocks her out), but there were a couple of times today that they gave her stuff to help her rest. They are talking about moving her back to the nursing home in a couple of days if things stay the way they are.

I feel bad for my mom, aunts, and uncles (she has 6 kids, and they are making the decisions together). They agreed to the DNR because of the quality of life issue. Her illness has rapidly progressed in the past 3 months. I hate it, but I definately don't want her to suffer in any way. And she wouldn't want to 'live' this way, either. Anyway- if y'all could continue to pray for her peace and comfort, I would really appreciate it.

I also wanted to thank everyone for your comforting words and prayers yesterday. I was a hot mess, and knowing that there were people who had never even met Nana that were praying for her really helped. It also helped to just get on here and read random (to me!) posts about everyday life and kind of escape. So from the bottom of my heart, I thank you!!
