For those suffering hip pain

I had bad hips before my first pregnancy but nearing the end of my first my hip pain was very bad with some serious pain in my SI joint. Not sciatica but in the joint. After DS was born it got better but never really went away. Almost immediately after getting pregnant with this LO the pain worsened. Today I went for my first prenatal massage and had a 30 minute session where she worked only on my hip. It was amazing and I felt immediate relief. If you are suffering don't wait, go see a massage therapist! The difference is amazing!

  • This is my first pregnancy, but I've had arthritis in my hips since I was 13. I never imagined my hips would hurt this bad this soon. There is nights I've had to have help walking. Thanks for the idea!
  • I'm with @agdbrumbelow, I was dx'd with osteoarthritis at age 10. One great way to get those prenatal massages, and only pay a co-pay (depending on your insurance) is to be referred to a physical therapist, or an osteopath for manipulations.

At PT you'll have to do exercises, but mine always did 20 mins of heat therapy followed by deep tissue work. My osteopath just did the tissue work. Both are amazing.

  • I start pt Thursday really hoping there is some massage component to it. I broke my tailbone 10 years ago and have had pain since. Pregnancy has made it sooo much worse though.

I had terrible issues with sciatica and hip pain in my first pregnancy. One more thing to keep in mind for the third tri is a pregnancy support belt. They are a little bulky but it can make a huge difference if you have to be on your feet. They really help distribute the weight of the baby belly.
