S has been battling Fifths disease for the last week or so. It started as fever and crankiness last week. Then the rash came on this weekend. She was miserable last night, but I think we found something that worked for her. Since the information for soothing the symptoms is slim online I thought I would pass it along for everyone. Hopefully you don't have to deal with this for a long time, since it's more common in children than babies. I've been giving her tylenol for the fever and discomfort. Last night she had an oatmeal bath and I covered her from the neck down in earth mama angel baby's bottom balm. When she woke this morning all but the worst spots on her back were gone. Dr. Gooole says the rash can persist for 1-3 weeks. So, I plan to continue this treatment for at least a week.
She's still a bit crankier than usual but definitely feeling better.
Hope that helps you all when you're faced it.
