Would you use the name Teagan/Teegan for a boy?

It was on my long list of names for a girl but it's a unisex name so thought I'd run it by DH. I'm betting he'll like the meaning "Poet" since my he dabbled in poetry for a while. But not completely convinced I can see it on a grown man...

  • I prefer the spelling Teagan over Teegan.
  • I think even if you don't decide on a name until the lo gets here it will be ok!

I took the easy way out and went with a family name. Next time I will probably be in your shoes ;)

We've joked that LO will be NoName Alexander LastName for like a week after he's here lol. I honestly wish DH would agree with making him a junior just to take the easy way out. And I've never wanted a junior, that's how desperate I am lol.

  • I voted yes, but have you considered the name Teague? It sounds more masculine and I like the sound of it! ETA: pronounced "Teag"
I know a man whose name is Teige (pronounced Teag), which I would prefer to Teagan.

I don't like it (for girl or boy), but it's just NMS. Definitely not a name I could see on a professional man, CEO, etc. It doesn't pass the test of time for me. :)

    Have you considered Tristan?

  • Thanks for the feedback ladies. Not even going to mention it to DH. About an hour later I was over it anyhow lol. I agree Teague sounds more masculine but I'm not really feeling it. I'll have to marinate over Tristan but I do know a kid with the name who's a spoiled brat so sadly that kinda spoils it for me.

  • That's is exactly how we feel! We went back and forth for weeks! Ds1 is named Carson so we feel we can't go with something too traditional like Henry. We've tentatively decided on Tanner... feel free to use it!

  • I knew a girl named Teagan, so I really only think of "girl" when I hear it. Sorry!

I wouldn't rule out traditional names!  My two boys (Jonathan and Simon) have pretty traditional names, and we are totally bucking that trend with boy #3 (Grayson).

  • I like Teagan for a boy and for a grown man. I think it's a terrific name.

  • I really don't like the name Teagan. But thinking of the name, I would imagine a boy and not a girl. I don't know anyone boy or girl with that name so to me IMO, it sounds like a boy name.

  • I've only known girls named Teagan, but I did go to school with a boy named Keegan & always liked the name. It's kind of similar...
  • I love it for a girl but not so much for a boy.

  • Tegan is my sister's name. I don't think of it as a possible boy's name. I love Emerald's suggestion of Tristan!
