Bloody Show question (poss. tmi)

I just had a quick question.

I went into my OB on this past Thursday, just before I hit 40wks, and the doctor said I was fully effaced and 3cm dilated...then went ahead and did a membrane strip while telling me he would be surprised if I made it through the weekend.

That night, I ended up having what I'm assuming is my show, which hasn't been that much in total (small amounts of brownish mucus stuff)...but it is STILL going on and no contractions.

I suppose I'm just wondering if that's normal at all for it to be going on this long? I have an appointment set up on Tuesday per Doc to see if he needs to do it again, so I'll  be asking him this anyways. Not really concerned since I'm not seeing anything bright and fresh, but I just want to ease any inside mind issues in seeing what you ladies say.

    I've been losing bits of my mucus plug for 2 weeks and it is totally normal.

    I haven't had my membranes swept, but I had three days of bloody show last week. Still losing bits of mucus on a regular basis, but no contractions yet. I think it's normal, and am not worried. Seeing my OB again on Wednesday.

    I didn't lose my mucus plug until the hospital after my water broke.

    I mean-- you are close either way. 

    I didn't have a bloody show until after my water broke, though.

    I had bloody show 1 am yesterday until 7 am today (went from bright red to yellowish mucus to brown tinged mucus back to bright red). Went into labor around 1:00pm today. Water hasn't broken yet although I had so much discharge with the show/plug I thought it had.
