Nursery wall decor question

Anyone have a good recommendation of putting things on walls that is removable and won't make a mess? We have butterflies that we want to attach and I don't want it to leave a residue or rip drywall when we remove it.

I had been thinking of the blue tacky stuff but I read it can make a mess. Anyone with experience?

I have used 3M hooks for everything and never had any issues. They come in a bunch of sizes too. They have never damaged the wall or left residue.

This. You can buy hooks or just the strips if you want to hang something that doesn't need a hook.

Aside from 3M, I don't think there's really anything out there that'll come off cleanly, unless you scrap what you have in mind and go with the vinyl wall decals.

We went with a tree wall decal from target and it removes very cleanly. I'm not sure what works as far as command hooks though, sorry!

I have used these and highly recommend. I can find them sometimes at the grocery store, drugstore, or office supply store. They really are removable and hold well. I used them to put an alphabet on the wall for the nursery for DS 4 years ago and have never had to mess with it. They come in different sizes.

I used command Velcro strips... I have had some problems in the past with command hooks but only if I didn't put a big enough hook for what I was hanging...

Lurking... Saw this idea on pinterest, if you don't mind putting thumb tacks in your wall, just put the tacks where you want the butterflies, and put magnets on the back of the butterflies. But that is probably more work than all of the above suggestions.
