I think we're done with the Nest in the crib

I posted a couple weeks ago asking what other people were doing if they had the nest now that LOs are getting older.
DS2 keeps getting anger and stuck trying to roll with the nest in the crib, so I took out the blankets under the crib sheet and left the crib sloped hoping it would be fine.  Well, last night I found him at all three wake ups at the bottom of the crib, once with his head below his feet and the other two times side ways. I have the monitor on and didn't hear him squirm around.
Looks like we're going to have to lay the crib back flat.  Him having his head below his feet freaked me out, I didn't think he would get that way because I put his feet at the bottom of the crib when I laid him down.
I really hope he sleeps fine flat, he still is on Prevacid for his silent reflux.
Anybody else have to convert to flat from sloped? How did it go?

  • I just took out the wedge I had. She wiggles way too much and last night she still turned a 180. She has a bit of reflux but is not on any meds. There was no difference in sleep. She thinks sleep is for the weak.

  • He woke up once on his stomach last night, but mostly just tries to roll onto his side at night to sleep.  It's been pretty toasty in his room, even with our central air on it is 72F in his room and he sleeps in a fleece sleeper. I made him a couple sleep sacks, but it's a bit warm now I think to pair fleece sacks with fleece sleepers.

  • DD used to have a wedge in her daycare crib until she started twisting all over the place. I took it out a few weeks ago and there hasn't been a change in her daycare naps. (She's always been a cat napper.) If anything she's actually getting to sleep faster now because she rolls onto her tummy. (It doesn't bother me if she tummy sleeps as long as she gets there herself.)

We keep our house at 74 overnight and I'd say on the top floor where we all sleep, it's probably 75-76. Still very comfortable and I run hot when I sleep. A fleece sleeper in mid-June seems like overkill. DD would also have a rash constantly if I was putting her in fleece. She doesn't wake up chilly, and I like that cotton is breathable and doesn't flare her eczema.

  • I could try the pillow maybe, his crib is only angled I think 7-8 degrees right now, not as much as the nest requires.
The fleece/microfleece sleeper seems like overkill, but he's never sweaty. I am probably going to switch him over to just sleeping in a 2 piece long sleeve cotton PJs soon. With his fluffy butt he is already outgrowing the length of the torso in his 18 month sleepers.

  • My son is on Prevacid too and I've always just had him flat.
  • @KaitiMac - I tried what you described. I widened the "V", but he would just roll and get stuck against it and got pissed off at that.  Then I took them out and left the bottom, he would start turning sideways when he would rock around and then get stuck diagonal with his head stuck against the rails.
Tonight is the first night he is flat, it took DH a couple nights to finally do it. I tried to get him to tell me where the allen key was for it but he couldn't remember. So far he has been asleep for 2 hours just fine.

  • The rest of the night was normal for him. He's always up every 2-2.5 hours all night long to feed, and did the same. You wouldn't have known he slept flat.  The only thing different that happened the night before too (so not attributed to being flat) is he kept rolling sleeping on his stomach.  Part of me was hoping when he eventually became a stomach sleeper he would sleep longer stretches, but it doesn't look like that will be happening.
