Heartburn

i recently been getting a lot of heartburn I am 35 weeks, is this normal and is it a fact that the baby will have hair if mom has heartburn or is that a myth? With my first son I did not have any heartburn and he was bald when born....jw

Re: Heartburn

  • I got heartburn at 35 weeks too, but it only lasted a few days. Now it's back with a vengeance… I was kind of hoping it was a sign of impending labor. :)
I can't speak to the hair thing though, though it sounds like a myth to me.

  • I had heartburn the last several weeks with DS and he was born with very little hair.  I have heartburn again with this LO and I've been told based on the u/s that it has "a lot" of hair.

Not sure what heartburn would have to do with your baby's quantity of hair.  Heartburn is a normal symptom towards the end of pregnancy as baby takes up more room.  I don't get it when I'm not pregnant, but when I am, I have to keep antacids nearby.

I've had pretty constant heartburn throughout my pregnancy, and the ultrasound also showed lots of hair.  It seems recent research is actually on the side of the old-wives-tale for this one: https://www.pregnancymagazine.com/pregnancy-news/pregnancy-health/does-having-heartburn-during-pregnancy-mean-your-baby-has-a-lot-of-hair

Not necessarily causation, but looks like there is correlation!

  • I had heartburn from the second I conceived with DD1, and she had tons of hair. I have it really bad with this one too (sometimes so bad I throw up)...so we'll see. Zantac and milk are my friends

heart burn is a result of the digestive system being slow towards the end of pregnancy. so I don't see how it would have anything to do with babies having hair. That to me seems genatic
