So yummy! I've never had the original because there aren't Cracker Barrels around these parts but MIL found a copy cat recipe online or in some official book. They are so delicious!

@mevaroo I don't know what the heck a smashed potato is but I want it!

Yes. The answer is yes. All the potatoes, all the ways. (Except the nasty creamed potatoes my mom raves about. Ew.)

@iwubrory I dont think it does, but then I like coconut. (And yeah, the ice cream does taste like coconut.) You could probable also use olive oil or crisco (if you are not soy free also,)

Give me alllllll the fries. The skinnier and crispier, the better. I'll do steak fries, but my preference is always for whatever is closest to the way McDonalds makes them.

That said, one of the best things I've ever eaten? Tots wrapped in bacon.

I voted for Mashed but I don't like super lumpy mashed potatoes. They have to be smooth and creamy. Unless they are garlic mashed with the skins on then a little lump is OK. There are so many different ways to make mashed potatoes-- you could do a whole thread just on them.

PS: I love me some Au gratin!!!!! With extra cheese of course!

The only potato I don't like is chip form. But twice-baked holds a special place in my heart.

@rondackhiker - DS doesn't like mashed potatoes....I wonder if he got switched in the hospital?

We make them at home! We make all the fixings for tacos and then just pile them on top of our tots. It's a once a year thing because...eek!

@iwubrory - I only opened this thread because you tagged me. ;-) SEE, that's how much I dislike them, I didn't even peek at a 2+ page thread!

That place golfer posted would be like my worst nightmare. I've been known to decline dinner invitations when I know the menu is steak and potatoes.

Ah! So sorry, I was searching for a picture in case this question popped up! haha...behold the Cactus Tater! They are made by putting the whole potato on a contraption which has basically a drill attached, and voila! I love mine with salt, vinegar and a little bit of ranch seasoning sprinkled on.

@RondackHiker, DS doesn't like potatoes either! He will eat fries, but that's it. He hates mashed potatoes! I know, those words together don't make sense...

@innanni, that's the thing, DS definitely isn't what I would call a picky eater. He eats almost anything we give him! Except potatoes.

This is a problem because DH and I LOVE potatoes!

I said mashed, but I forgot about my mom's hash brown casserole. It is delicious and terrible for you. We had it at pretty much every holiday meal. Here is the recipe.

2 boxes hash browns or one large bag

1 pint half and half

1 stick margarine or butter

Spread potatoes in 9 x 13 pan. Heat half and half and butter until melted. Pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees.

I could not vote because I would have to say cheesy is my favorite! Sour cream, chedder, crea,m of chicken, butter, and onion all mixed in and baked (use hash browns, or cubes).

I didn't vote because there was no ALL THE POTATOES! option. Maybe potatoes is my answer to what could I eat every day if I had to pick just one food. Potatoes. Mashed, hash browned, tots, fries, roasted, broiled, boiled, sliced, diced, whole, Idaho, red, yellow, WHATEVER, just give me ALL THE POTATOES!
