Do you believe the advertisements you see on TV/hear on the radio? Yes, I know there is probably a huge grey area here. That's what the comment section is for.

Heck yeah! Why would something be advertised that wasn't true?

Hell, no! Most advertisements stretch their claims way too far.

  • I work in marketing so I may have a bias, but I picked the heck yeah answer.

Are there embellishments used in advertising that paint products in the best light? You bet. But for some products there are legal protections that prevent companies from outright lying, especially when it comes to anything medical/health/body related (medicine, toothpaste, things like that). There's a little more wiggle room with things that aren't FDA regulated and that's where I'm likely to be some deception in place.

I am a serious skeptic and don't believe most of what I see in commercials.  And the shadiness in advertising is awful.  What made me ask this question was something on my lotion bottle.  It has some pretty, eye catching writing on the top of the bottle that says, "New!  20% more (in big letters) that 10 ounce lotions (in tiny letters)."  The lotion bottle is 12 ounces.  Well DUH!  I didn't even notice this until after I bought it.  Way to prey on stupid people.
