It's a yeast infection

edited June 2014 in Cloth Diapering
So after googling and then taking her to the doctor, C has a moderate yeast infection. We will be sunning and air drying her bottom as much as possible, in addition to probiotics, and slathering her in calendula. I'm pretty sure she got this from a used diaper. Lesson learned, always bleach those things before using.
Anyway, my plan of attack for her diapers are to bleach all of them and then for prevention add tea tree oil and thieves oil somewhere in my wash routing. Just not sure where?
Also will exclusively be using my fitteds and I have fst that are being promoted from dish towels to diapers. I will also be bleaching DS's dipes as well, since a couple of C's managed to get in there one day.

Anyway a few questions:
1) do I need to run bleach through my washer?
2) I plan on keeping her in cloth. Do I need to use bleach every wash? Or will the EOs and iodine (that I already use) be enough? We also have extremely hot water.
3) can someone please reassure me that I can manage to use fst? I detest prefolds, and here I am getting ready to use flats.
4) what do I do about my pockets and covers and wet bags? I don't generally bleach those or dry them in the dryer. Is it ok to do both of those things?

P.s to anybody who's recently bought diapers from me, don't freak out. I can assure you those dipes have not been infected. Although you should bleach anyway!

How much bleach do you use per load?

  • Bleach. Not fun but necessary. :(

If you have planetwise wetbags, they will fade even with it diluted. Be warned! If you have others I'd use those. The pail liners are fine though.

  • Well, I made the hard decision to put her in disposables until this clears up. With the non-cd safe cream and needing to bleach with every wash, I figured it'd just be easier in the long run. So, DH picked up a pack on his lunch break. :(

I'm working on bleaching everything out right now. I pray this clears up quickly. Those disposables were sticking expensive.

On the positive side, I have discovered that I love flats! I've been using FST today, while I'm bleaching everything else. Her rash already looks better, since those haven't been exposed. And I figure they'll bleach out just fine.

Also have learned to always bleach and strip any used diapers! Even if it's just one!
