Tired of people's opinions, and questions that are NOTB!

So I don't think I've ever ranted on here, but I assume I'm not the only way who faces stupid stuff like this from complete strangers!

When I have my son in his ergo and he's sleeping, that does not give you, complete stranger, permission to move my boob around or poke my boob to see his face, he's like this for a reason, and YES, HE CAN BREATHE LIKE THAT!  I'm not carrying around my suffocating baby!

No, he doesn't need to eat, sometimes babies cry for other reasons than food!

I'm not spoiling my baby by holding him too much, or traumatizing him by letting him cry, or ignoring him by putting him in his swing.

No he doesn't need water to make him stop crying, hiccuping, etc.  HE DOESN'T NEED WATER!

And finally, whether or not I breastfeed is MY BUSINESS!  Just because I had a baby doesn't mean that my boobs are any of your business.  Why I wasn't successful at breastfeeding NOT YOUR BUSINESS!  My son doesn't have reflex because he's on formula!

My boobs are not public domain, stop touching them, looking at them, asking about them, etc.  They are MINE, not YOURS!

Anyone else get just the stupidest questions or opinions from complete strangers?!

  • I get irrationally angry when people ask if I'm breastfeeding. I am, and I feel like if I say "that's none of your business" people assume that I'm like ashamed that I am not or something. So I usually just say I am, which almost always follows with "how is it going?", at least from women. I'm sorry, stranger, I am not going to tell you about the struggle we had with the nipple shield, the supplementing and pumping schedule I had to adhere to because of low supply, the inefficient latch problems. So I just say "fine." And I feel so angry about it, and I don't know why!

  • Of course. I think we all face these comments as moms. Yes, it is very annoying. It's sucks dealing with all the comments. I've found that you just need to have a tough skin and brush it off because they will keep coming. It will get better though.

If people get in your space tell them to back off because it's none of your business.

Same here! Drives my nuts that I carry my daughter around in a carseat with a pink head support and a pink blanket most of the time wearing either pink, purple, or something clearly girly and people are like "oh he is so precious". Even more annoying is the fact that some people continue to call her a him after I've corrected them or tell them her clearly girl name!
  • Lately when I take DS out complete strangers try and touch him. His hands, cheeks, and his head. It drives me nuts! I get so annoyed and want to ask them if they want me to rub their cheeks too to see if they are soft!

Also, just started giving DS some formula. FIL was like ohhhh why is this? You can't do it anymore? I had a nice response when I really wanted to say oh sorry I am tired of pumping every 3 hours around the clock for the last 2 months and want to have more time with my LO and not my pump!

Argh I hate that, touching his hands or cheeks then putting his dummy in argh hands off my baby!
  • A woman in a shop told me "isn't he cute" and I said "yes SHE is".. The woman looked shocked and said "oh sorry I thought she was a boy".. I pointed out that she was wearing a dress with flowers all over it and the woman said "yes but the dress is yellow and blue"... Er... Yes, yes it is.. But it's still a frickin flowery dress you dozy moron. Just coz I don't cover DD head to toe in Barbie pink I would have thought the dress would have given you a minor clue to her gender. Totally stupid.

I also get fed u with complete strangers (woman in GP waiting room and a checkout girl in supermarket) asking me if she's breastfed and when I say, no, not any more, they ask why! How is it any if your business? Do they really want all the gory details about my bleeding nipples, my daughters oral thrush and the stress it was causing me making me cry every time I had to feed her? No
  • Strangers touching him sends me completely over the edge. Several weeks ago he was over my shoulder while I burped him at a doctor's office. A random woman comes over and places her finger in his fist! He's teething, his fists go right in his mouth and you just put your hand in it? Next time just bring a spoon so you can shove your germs directly into his mouth! My 11yo DD was like, "uh oh, mom, you're gonna freak out aren't you. It's okay, she only got his hand for like a second." Lol. My SO asked why I wasn't giving the baby water. He's brought it up a few times. I can'teven respond kindly so I'm just quiet. I'm sure he thinks I'm dehydrating our son. Awesome.

  • So far I have had:
    -was he vaginally delivered?
    -isn't that an expensive stroller?
    -did you leave him intact?
-why is DD still in a stroller? (she is TWO people!)
-are you in love with him?
-You are going back to work and leaving that precious baby? yes bitch, thanks for reminding me that I NEED to work.

Do people not understand the main thing in breastmilk and formula is water??? Ughhh!
  • I've had just the opposite when out with my daughter who was in pink. Someone said isn't he a cute little boy. Ummm she had on a pink dress. WTF.
