On-Q Pump worth it? cost?

I'm having 4th c/s on the 20th. The On-Q pump was brought up at last OB appt. Is it worth the cost? Anyone experience c/s with and without to compare healing times?

I have cigna and haven't called yet to see if they cover it. Those that had to pay for it, what was the cost for meds? I was told 200 to put it in. plus medication.

I've never even heard of it. I'd skip it. I healed quick after #2

I had to look it up. I'd still skip it. I was up walking around by day 1 and by the time I left the hospital I didn't really take hydrocodine but 1 pill every 6 hrs.

Is it a pain pump? I'd skip it. If anything, I'd think it could extend your healing time because you think you feel great and over do it. I never took narcotics except for a shot of morphine during surgery. Tylenol and naproxen/ibuprofen only and I was mostly off it within a week.

Oh I see it's not for narcotics. I still don't think it's a great idea.

I work in a hospital pharmacy and to my knowledge On-Q pumps are primarily used for orthopedic surgeries. I've never heard of them bring used in C-sections. I agree with PPs that it's unnecessary. I had Dilaudid PCA for 24 hours and then I managed fine with Percocet for a few days, and then just ibuprofen.
