Excited and mildly terrified

Well...my H found out today that he was selected for the overseas assignment he put in for. We're going to India! I am torn between thinking it'll be a really great experience and wanting to vomit from anxiety. It'll be good, right? Tell me it'll be good...

Wow, that sounds amazing!! How long would you be there? I'm sure it'll be an incredible experience!

It's a 2-3 year assignment, and we don't leave until May or June of next year.
  • Sounds fantastic!!

Important question: Will you have access to The Bump in India?

    Yes! :)
  • Oh WONDERFUL!!!!! What an awesome opportunity!
  • That's an awesome opportunity! 2-3 years it totally doable if it's not what you thought it would be, but still lots of time to experience a whole different world/culture.

Wow! That's going to be such and amazing experience for your family. Will his job provide housing and everything? Do you know what city?

We'll be living in the American Embassy compound (my H is Air Force), it's in Delhi.

I don't know the language, and won't need to learn it, though I'll probably try to pick up enough to get by. Scarlett may do kindergarten there if we stay the full 3 years. Overseas schools for military kids are supposed to be fantastic.

Ahh, I didn't know he was military. That will make it much easier, I'm sure. I'm jealous, it sounds like a great experience.

It's very exciting! We are now posted in Kuwait and have been there for a year (one more to go). Before that we were in Malaysia for 2 years. Overseas experience is great, you will like it. There are downsides of course, but you can find them everywhere. I've heard international schools in India are one of the best overseas!

We actually really wanted Germany, but it hasn't come up yet. India will be really good for his career, plus now we're almost guaranteed to get Germany next time it comes up after we're done.

FYI The national language of India is English (proper English). Enjoy.... It's an amazing culture. Delhi is going to be awesome.

Yes, but Hindi is the main language in the city. I don't see it being a huge issue, though, as I'm sure most of the people I'd deal with directly will speak English. I just want to learn some Hindi just in case.
