Trouble TTC

Re-Intro (kind of), & Vent **BFP WARNING**not mine

Hi Ladies,

I had only been able to post a few times before everything went wrong :/ About 3 weeks ago, I came home from work to find our house had flooded. A pipe had burst under our bathroom sink. Three inches of water all throughout the entire house!! We cleaned up and recovered after about a week, and decided to have some friends from out of town over for a BBQ to help us get our minds off of the damage. These particular friends are exactly like us as far as IF and the struggle to get PG goes, and the only other people we know IRL that have been trying as long as we have. At the BBQ she tells me she's been having heart burn and feeling nauseous off and on, so we joked about her being PG. In the back of my mind I was scared it was true. I know that's not what you're supposed to feel when a friend tells you she may be PG, but we all know how that goes. Turns out she is. Needless to say I was devastated. It all never seemed real - the IF struggle that is - until then.

I've been trying to stay positive though. I'm coming out of the slump slowly, and thought I'd really like to get back on here to be more involved in the community and to give support to someone who may be having as hard of a time as I am. On the upside, this 'lil kick in the face gave me the gusto to go ahead and make an appointment with an RE. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should ask at the initial consultation? I know there are probably other posts about this topic and I will scan for those too. Thanks for listening to me gripe lol.

  • Sorry about this tough time you've had to do through! It's so unfair how everything seems to pile on at once. I'm so sorry that in some ways you have lost your IRL IF friend. :(

Honestly, for our initial consult, the RE and I did not have much to talk about because he just needed to get the testing done first rather than talk about all the possibilities first. He gave me a general idea of what would be tested, as well as his hunch as to the problem, and it was just a really quick meeting. Mostly taking medical histories. But I'm sure if you had a list of questions that you wanted to discuss ahead of time to help you feel more comfortable about the process, that your doctor would be happy to oblige!

  • Thank you ladies. I will definitely make sure that I will only keep seeing this RE if I like him. I have been to too many Dr.'s I didn't really like just because my insurance covered it. I figured that would be what the first appointment would consist of - tests, talking about future tests, and medical histories, but I will definitely bring a note pad just in case. I will write some of my questions down as well and make sure I read them. I have always been kind of embarrassed to do that in the past, but with this RE over 2 hours away, I can't afford to miss a single thing lol.
