Pregnant after a Loss

PgaL FREAKOUT

Hi all. I am 17 weeks and 4 day. I have been really scared about losing the baby lately (3 previous losses - all in the first trimester) so I purchased a Sololine B pocket doppler. I have never used it before today. When I went to try it for the first time I was only able to find my heartbeat. My last OB appointment was 5/28 and they heard a nice strong heartbeat. I have only gained 6 pounds nothing in the past few weeks. I am freaking out. I called and left a message for my Doctor, but I am just beside myself right now.

Re: PgaL FREAKOUT

  • I haven't used a personal Doppler so I don't have any tips on how to find the heartbeat, but did you watch YouTube videos or anything for guidance? How long were you searching for it? I hope your doc calls you soon and gets you in for peace of mind. ((Hugs)) to you!

  • Deep breathes! I also have only gained that much this time around and only a week or so ahead of you. Also with the Doppler did you try watching YouTube videos?!? They really helped me. I will tell you however that at times I can find it really fast and others it takes me awhile. Also make sure you have enough gel. I tend to use more than needed and at times that makes a difference. Huge hugs!

  • First time I used my doppler it took FOREVER to find hb. Don't be discouraged, and watch the YouTube videos as PP have suggested.

  • I am so sorry that you're having a rough time but the best thing to do right now is stay calm and wait for your doctor to get you in for a quick check.  I have a Sonoline doppler, too, and have found it to be great, but also a pain in the royal rear all at once because there are so many sounds in there and the baby can be really difficult to find sometimes!  Lots and lots of ((((hugs)))).  I hope you get the reassurance you need soon!!

Deep breaths.  I'm sorry this is so scary. My doctor had a hard time finding my LO with Doppler around 18 weeks.  It turns out I had a partially full bladder that LO was hiding behind.  I would call and get in to the doc, but try not to go to the very bad place. He may just be wiggling/hiding. (((hugs)))
