How do we compare to national breastfeeding rates (exclusive only)?

Just curious ... since we're now mostly approaching a year (those of you who aren't there yet - feel free to extrapolate). If you stopped exclusively breastfeeding outside of the timepoints listed, just round to the nearest. I'll put another poll up for those ladies who have supplemented. Here's the CDC's data for those of you that are interested in looking!

ETA: and I realize this gets into the whole debate that we had here a while back about "exclusive" - here, it's not considering food or anything, just whether it was breastmilk versus formula.  Also, if you've been transitioning to WCM (or whatever other milk source), just ignore that for now, unless you've completely weaned of breastmilk.

And obviously you EP ladies can vote as BF.  I realize my poll has flaws.  Sorry ladies!

  • Ebf for 9 months, but only because he started eating solids more regularly.
I'm still nursing but I'd say only 3 to 6 times a day. It's really just so he falls asleep and comfort.

EBF until 5 months, and during months 5-6 I pumped and supplemented. Went straight to formula at 6 months. So, I would of voted 5 months.

    Edit:
It's pretty crazy that only 21% of women exclusively breastfed up to 5 months!

  • I want to go find a Canadian study to compare. I love BFing but expect I would have much more interest in FF if I needed to go back to work during LO's first year.

  • 8 mos so I voted 9 mos. Plan was a year but my boob ducts had different plans and goals to steal my sanity!

  • @kames12‌ @subliminalrabbit‌ thanks! I pumped for about 17/18 months with ds1. Actual breastfeeding was really hard for me so I just switched to pumping at 1 month. I'm a sahm so it's not too much of a bother to pump. I've done it so long that it's like second nature.

11.5 months before we cut to just morning/night nursing! I wanted to be able to say 12, but I'm super proud of struggling through for that long.

Same here. I just couldn't pump anymore. I'm a temporary SAHM now because I teach, but DD gets 2 bottles and nurses morning and night.

  • EBF a year this Saturday (I pumped since going back to work in October and am so glad to be stopping that!)

  • I voted 12, but did supplement with formula a little bit at first. With jaundice and an infection in the nicu, he wouldn't latch and I couldn't really get anything out of the pump at that point. Still going strong on nursing.

  • I said a year, we stopped a couple weeks before his birthday. I had some frozen to supplmenting with formula for the last couple weeks.

  • Breastfed for 7 months or so but pumping at work never quite worked out to enough so he started getting some formula at daycare from 3 months or so on
  • I voted 12 months but she turned one yesterday so we are over that for EBF. No end in sight. This girl loves to nurse.
  • Early postpartum. We only made it to 6 weeks.

However, Im determined to last longer with the next LO coming in October.

  • Still breast feeding. Lo never tried formula or wcm. I can't imagine weaning yet. He loves his milk.
  • He stopped nursing around 11 months but he stills gets frozen BM from my freezer stash twice a day and WCM throughout the day. He'll be 1 on the 27th.
