Abdominal Discomfort/Cramping

Hello all- As a precursor- I have called my doctor, and I am waiting to hear back, but as a FTM, I am being impatient.  Ever since waking up this morning (5:30) I have been feeling some persistent, but mild menstrual like cramp- they are mostly where I would typically get cramps (pre-prego), but occasionally move up my belly.  I will be 33 weeks on Wednesday and I'm not sure if these are BH contractions or what, but from what I've read is that BH are not typically persistent, especially after rest and water- I haven't experienced BH prior.  I wouldn't say that they are particularly painful, mostly just uncomfortable and persistent, which of course makes me worry.  Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I await a call back from the doctor.

Re: Abdominal Discomfort/Cramping

  • I had something like that and had a really hard time explaining it to people, but I just kinda sucked it up and it went away, and my dr basicly said that I"m pregnant and my body is changing and he ran some tests and everything came back fine, I was just uncomfortable... Mine felt like when you have to go to the bathroom and you hold it too long and it starts to hurt... I'm not sure if that is what you are experiencing or not, but I hope that you can get it squared away with your dr alright...

  • I wouldn't necessarily describe it as feeling full but more along the lines of mild period like cramps. I'm drinking lots of fluids now, so hopefully that will help. I also now have an appt at 130, so hopefully I'll receive some peace of mind. Thanks ladies!

I get them at night sometimes.  They're like practice contractions and feel different than BH.  Mine do not last very long, do not intensify, and do not have a timeable pattern.

I experience something similar. I attribute it mainly to the stretching of the muscles and ligaments, especially as baby is getting heavier and taking up more room. I had similar cramp like feelings with my first two as well.

  • I have had cramping throughout my pregnancy and some of it has been super painful, but my Dr. keeps telling me it's nothing to worry about if they don't last longer than an hour, don't emulate contractions and aren't accompanied by bleeding or spotting. They said they two most common sources are ligament pain from a growing uterus and cramping due to dehydration. Still freaks me out though!
  • I had this too and they ended up finding out I had a yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis. Both nothing to worry about, but it CAN cause preterm labor. In my case, it caused contractions (menstrual like cramping), but I never dilated. I was given Monistat 7 and antibiotics and feel better. Not 100%, but better. Don't rule out cramping until UTIs, yeast infection, and bacterial vaginosis have been ruled out. Especially if it lasts longer than 48 hours.

  • Went to doctor and they ruled out any type of infection or preterm labor- just chalking it up to normal third trimester aches and pains. However she wants me to drink lots of fluids and take it easy and rest- if it gets worse or is accompanied with any thing else to give a call again. Glad I went though!
