Pet Peeves

My trip to the grocery store reminded me of one of mine, so I thought maybe we could share those little things that just drive us crazy!

So, what say you F14? Something your DH does? Strangers? And what would your DH say is HIS biggest pet peeve about you? ;)

  • @JA82406‌ did you know there is a name for when people get angry about food noises?
    Misophonia:
People who have misophonia are most commonly angered, and even enraged, by common ambient sounds, such as other people clipping their nails, brushing teeth, chewing crushed ice, eating, slurping, drinking, breathing, sniffing, talking, sneezing, yawning, walking, chewing gum, laughing, snoring, typing on a keyboard, whistling or coughing; saying certain consonants; or repetitive sounds.

Yup! I can just never remember the name until I google it. ;)
We had a thread a while back where we were talking about pet peeves and I think it's @inluv4life2‌ who also has this pet peeve too.
  • When people who know LO's name refer to him as "the baby." A time or two is fine. Everytime? Use his name.

  • Taken from my day today:

When people tell SIDS stories at baby showers. Just. Don't.

ETA: inappropriate/ insensitive stories at any time suck. My grandma used to be the queen of those.

yes! or when someone asks how old LO is and then tell me that abc happened to xyz at that age. thanks.

My MIL did this with DD until this year and she's going to be 4. Most of the time I didn't know who she was talking about since she was not a baby and there were at least 3 other kids younger than DD that she could have been referring to. Luckily she stopped, but probably only because there was going to be a new baby. Who knows how long it would have lasted.

  • I definitely have misophonia!!

Loud chewing and swallowing are the worst and make me want to punch a wall.

Or when I just turned up the freakin' radio to hear my song/ a story! Turning up the volume is not a cue to speak louder, DH.
This happens to me all the time when I'm trying to catch a story on the news! I turn it up and still miss it so I rewind and door on the ottoman right in front of the t.v. and everyone just keeps yelling!

I hate when people where perfume to the gym. It makes me gag when I'm doing cardio and I have to inhale that smell.
  • People who stop their cart at the grocery store in the middle of the flipping aisle to text. I want to run my cart over their ankles. I don't, but I really, really want to.

@futuremrswinfree‌, I make my grocery list in the notes section of my iPhone and add and delete things on it while shopping. Of course I try to be mindful not to stop in front of others, but just thought I'd share. Maybe they aren't texting ;)

  • I have a new one today and when it happened I thought to myself "dang I should have put that on the pet peeve board" so it drive me nuts when people walk in the center of the "aisle" in the parking not, if you are walking to your car MOVE TO THE SIDE so I can drive past you!!!!

  • When people wear flip flops (I wear them, but I don't make a ton of noise). I realize they're called "flip flops" for a reason, but most people are annoyingly loud when wearing them. Also, when people wear boots and don't tie the laces and they drag their feet all over the place X( Sometimes I wish they'd trip over their own two feet and learn a lesson :D

Harley motorcycles. Sorry, I'm calling them all out BECAUSE every single one that drives on our street HAS to rev (whatever you call it) right in front of our house and it's so freakin loud. Also, when slowing down for a red light, they must rev before coming to a complete stop. WHY?!?

Ignoring me when I'm trying to have a conversation with you. DH is good for this. Especially when he's playing with his phone. One day I'm gonna grab it and stomp it into a million pieces.

I have way too many more that I can't think of at the moment.

  • I read the rest of the thread earlier so can't remember if someone already mentioned it but when people say "warsh" instead of "wash."  A coworker said it today which reminded me.  It's super common in my area and drives me bonkers!
  • Oh remembered another one. When people say "it's all" and I'm thinking "all what???" They mean all gone. Why not say all gone? Ahh!
