2nd Trimester

stroller/car seat

I really like the graco modes for all of its flexibility my husband cant stand the 360.00 price tag for the set. so when I went hunting for a better deal I realized my baby who will be born in this "lovely" Wisconsin weather in the beginning of October. I will try using a mobi wrap and the baby carrier on my front for the first couple months (I'm not the strongest). But for those mall trips I am considering buying a graco carseat for a little more then 100.00 and a used frame stroller to go with it for about $30-50. My thing is by the time I start walking around with a real stroller I may want an umbrella stroller or something used don't care the brand instead of a travel system. Is it crazy I think all of these things out?

A lot of people aren't fans of the travel systems because they are bulky.  A lot of people go with the lightweight stroller frames initially.  That's what we did, and honestly I barely used it.  I wore DS for most of his first year, and didn't use his stroller much at all.  I primarily used his stroller when my mom or MIL were visiting and they wanted to push him. I carried DS in the Moby and the Ergo for most of his first year, and it worked great for us.

Once DS was about 6 months, I did buy a jogging stroller/all terrain stroller (which was expensive but I got it at a bargain store for like 1/2 off).  You can find great stroller deals on Craigslist, so if you start out with a cheap frame, you can "upgrade" later for a stroller that will better grow with the kid.

  • No, equipment is important, so you need to be happy with it. I'd think about long term on the stroller though. You'll end up using it until your kid is about 3, so it's not just for a couple months. Get whatever you think will work for your lifestyle, and budget will be a factor, but don't let it be the only deciding factor.
  • No it's normal. I thought everything out as well. I went with the travel system and it was nice, although a little bulky. If you plan on getting a jogging stroller, I definitely would not invest in the travel system. I wish I just would have splurged on the jogging stroller instead.

  • i personally hate joggers and their big 3 wheel and would love to afford the city mini because it has a lifetime warranty and i do want quite a few kids i want something affordable and durable and been searching for the a happy combo. been keeping an eye out for best combo

  • Planning it out is important and the snap and go strollers are a great alternative to travel systems, but from personal experience be prepared to have to switch your plans up once your LO arrives. My DD hated being worn so we used our travel system (Chicco) all the time. We have bigger vehicles though so space wasn't an issue. I'm really hoping DS is more cooperative with wearing because I'll need the free hands to chance his sister around! :)

  • It is normal to think these things through, and travel systems are never a good idea because the strollers are not the greatest and you are paying more to have one that "matches" your carseat.

"Never" isn't a good term, there are some awesome travel systems out there. We have the Britax B-Safe + B-Agile travel system and love it! The B-Agile stroller is great!
