Strollers for Twins

I have been looking into a stroller for twins - most reviews for double strollers seem to be from parents who have two children that are different ages.  I do not want a side by side stroller and have been looking at the City Select, but not sure it is worth the money.  I do like that you can convert it into a single though, which would be nice if I am wearing one baby and then could alternate who is in the stroller.  The babies will be born in the winter in upstate NY so I can't really foresee using it a ton until they are a little older and there is nicer weather to take them out in.  Any other stroller out there that I should look at?  Thanks!

Re: Strollers for Twins

It seems like around here twin parents are pretty split between the city select and the city mini double. We decided we wanted a side-by-side stroller, so we bought the city mini double GT. we liked the city select as well, but I was concerned about our twins getting too tall for them to sit comfortably in it longer term.
For us, longevity was a primary concern, as well as maneuverability in snow and on trails (we live in Ontario). This is primarily why we rejected most other brands and tandem strollers ourselves.

We are looking at the Joovy Twin Roo dsng for when our twins are very small.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure this out too. The price tag on the city strollers are crazy but I don't want to keep buying strollers I hate... I'm in MA and the babies will be born in November so I think I will wait until the spring to buy the "real" stroller-- just opting for dsng with the infant car seats initially.

We opted for a SBS and ended up finding a Bumbleride Indie Twin on Craigslist in practically new condition for a steal. I tried out several tandems and didn't feel like it was te best option in the long term, plus living in Chicago I wanted somethig that would work in all types of weather.
FWIW my SIL lives in upstate NY and got the City Select and does not feel it works for them- says unless the sidewalks are totally clear it's pretty difficult to use.

Added: We also have a Joovy Twin Roo that I use for going to doctor appointments and sometimes to get in and out of the house (it's a bit of a hike from the front door of our condo building to the garage) and it's been really helpful. I save our Bumbleride for going on walks.

  • I chose the Joovy Twin Roo and like it just test driving it around my house. The only issue I have is that the basket is pretty difficult to use. A friend let me check out her contours double stroller, which you can change out the parts to make it useable for either car seats or the regular seats so it has a longer useage span. It was nice but more expensive than I wanted to pay.

  • We used a joovy Roo stroller frame at first and now we use a bob duallie.

We use the bob as our "everyday" stroller. Yes, it's big but so is just about every other double out there.

  • I got the Joovy Twin Roo for the beginning because I really liked the convenience of having a snap n go with DS.  I also debated between the city select and the double city mini.  I have a City mini single for DS that I love because it's light, easy to maneuver and folds so easy.

I took DS to Buy Buy Baby and stuck him in the city select and double city mini.  He definitely has a lot more grow room in the double city mini than the city select.  He is two (today!) and is husky but an average height.  Assuming the twins (both boys) have a similar build, I'm going to want the double since it seems like it will really last longer.

I have the chicco double stroller that the car seats fit in and I like it but wish I had something that converted to a single stroller for when I am wearing one.

  • I really want the Maclaren Twin Techno. I have a Graco from my singleton pregnancy that is a great Cadillac of a stroller, but I didn't use it,that much because it was kind of,a pain to store. I ended up having to keep it in my car because even though it folded easily it didn't fold very compact. I ended up more often using a $13'umbrella stroller. Techno is the only twin stroller I have found that folds pretty compactly, doesn't weigh a ton, and can be used for infants. I hope I can get one, might have to scope out craigslist..... and then I can get a stroller board to put on for the 4 year old to stand on if he gets too tired. :)

  • I'm in the process of researching strollers for our twins (due in November) and I'm thinking there needs to be an entire class taught just on this subject. I see so many names and acronyms and this and that and I have no clue what it even means.

I know we'd like a side by side stroller in the long term, but when are they big enough to ride in one? I'm assuming we're just going to have to get something cheap to get us by until then? Do we get the ones that you attach the car seats to? We

Aghh! Sorry - didn't mean to hijack your thread. Just venting!

  • Being a STM I already owned 5 strollers with just DS. You will need diff stollers for diff things.

For the twins I bought the city mini GT double. I got last years model for a good price. You can't use 2 car seats with it so I will be getting a snap n go till they are a little older. It for recline flat so you can use it from the newborn stage but I know newborns sleep a lot so keeping them in the car seats will be nice when we are out.

I liked the city select and considered it but rejected it because the seats are quite small. Plus you can't fold it up while the seats are on it. I know it takes just a minute to assemble but with 3 kids is rather not go through the hassle. And lastly the price, it's quite expensive.

  • My twins are 6 weeks old now and we have the city select and we love it! We even took it to a art fair this weekend with right alley ways and was able to move around with no problems!

I love how smoothe it glides and how the handle height adjust! My husband is 6 feet and I'm barely 5'1" so being able to adjust the bar with no effort at all makes it really comfortable to push!

We got the joovy twin roo and the joovy scooter x 2. We haven't put the big one together yet, but it had good reviews for the price on amazon. I like that you can lay the seats down individually.

I have both of these and love them. The twin roo was a lifesaver in the early months. At 8 months, we are no longer carrying them out of the car in their Keyfits. We also have the Citi Mini and I like the smoother ride, but hate the small storage.

  • I bought the sit and stand double, and love it! It holds 2 car seats so pretty easy!
  • I have a couple of friends with twins and they stressed how much they loved their Contours Options strollers. I love that I can switch the seat positions to have them face each other or which ever way I want. They both said it was by far their favorite purchase, so that's definitely the one we're going with.

  • Our twins are now 14 months, and we loved our Joovy Twin Roo and now love the Joovy Scooter x2 https://www.joovy.com/p-55-scooterx2-stroller.aspx.  We haven't tried any others -- but we have no complaints so far about either of the Joovy options.
  • I have the sit and stand double, and haven't had any issues at all. It was very reasonably priced which was very important with all the other expenses that come along with twins...
  • I just scored a maclaren twin techno on craigslist for $50!! One of the clamps, that holds it closed is broken, but the other one and everything else on it is perfect. I am so jazzed, this is my dream stroller and I had no idea how,I was going to afford one. *happy dance*

  • My twins are 4 months, and I love our contours options stroller. When I'm running errands it's easy to pop them into the car seat adapters. For walks, I like using the stroller seats that came with it, and the basket underneath is a good size
