Birthday ideas for DD

People keep asking what to get her for her birthday. All she really needs right now are some 9 month sleepers. We have all the "big" toys- music table, zany zoo, cozy coupe, etc and we need books like we need a hole in the head. MIL is getting her a ride on toy. I guess I could say winter clothes? But they aren't really in stores. Suggestions?? Are there any new and cool toys that she needs?

DH and I are getting her stocks like we did with DS, a new pair of shoes and a crib.

    I don't know of any new, or exciting toys, but my kids are about the same ages as yours and these are our current hits.

    There is a ball popper that DD is obsessed with right now. Drives me nuts, but keeps her entertained for a really long time.  

    A baby stroller, or shopping cart is always a good gift. 

    Do you have a play kitchen? Maybe some food for that.

    DD is into dolls which just proves to me that some toys appeal to certain genders more than others. They are the exact same dolls DS had that he never looked at. Of course, now he insists they are his whenever she tries carrying one around.

    What about toys they both can use?  Large wood blocks, outdoor toys she can grow into.

    She has a wooden drag along snail that she drags around the house.  It is cute.

    Little People House has been fun for both kids.  We have the farm, but the house has gotten a lot more use by both kids lately.

    How could I forget the Pottery Barn chair? DD is into sitting in things right now.  We had multiple imitations with DS and we sold most of them in our garage sale.  They just were not durable or interesting to him.  For some reason, this PB chair has been a hit.  DD loves it and climbs in it constantly.  They fight over it so much, we have thought of getting two.  The price made me cringe, but I was able to get the insert and cover separately off Ebay, which made it more palatable.  However, seeing the use it it has gotten, I would pay full price for one.

    If that is too expensive, she happily played in a kiddie lawn/beach chair for half the day yesterday.

    Wooden puzzles
    Foam building blocks
    bitty baby clothes (DD got a bitty baby for Christmas a few weeks earlier)
    Rocking horse from pottery barn
    Easel (Ikea has one for like $15)
    Table and chair set
    Dress up clothes
    Bubble machine (from Target)
    Fun sprinkler toy
    consumable things -- finger paint, chalk, crayons, markers, etc

    If all else fails, I like non-toys that she can grow into. BIL got her a jewelery box with her name engraved from Things Remembered. I like it, when she's older we'll be able to tell her "Uncle J bought this for your first birthday". Something she's had for almost her whole life.

    ! We have a play kitchen, shopping cart, baby swing, pool, water table. Maybe I'll suggest a doll and doll stroller...DS loves his doll

    I second the Anywhere Chair! We got DS1 one for his first birthday and just bought two more because the babies love it so much. I had every intention of buying these two through PBK so all three of them could have white piping, but in the end I just couldn't stomach the cost difference and bought them from Ugly Sofa instead. Genuine PBK cover, generic foam inserts, and it saved me $180.
