Cramps? Braxton Hicks? Contractions?

I have had a bunch of cramping in the last couple days that aren't consistent but I'm not sure if it's just cramps or if they are braxton hicks. Sometimes they will go into my back but most of the time they are in my pelvic region. My stomach doesn't really get hard and sometimes the baby will move during the pains. I'm not sure what's going on. I get the feeling like a have to (TMI) poo and then when the pain finally goes away the urge goes away. Sometimes I will walk around during the cramping and they don't go away and will keep going for about an hour and then will disappear. Is this what braxton hicks are? Or am I just having cramping at 38 weeks? How will I know when I'm actually having contractions other than timing? It makes me so frustrated that I don't know what is going on. This is my second pregnancy. With the first I was induced before I experienced anything like this so that's why I feel so lost.

I think it all aounds pretty normal (unfortunately). Off-and-on cramping, contractions, pressure, etc, are all pretty standard leading up to labor for a lot of women (not all).

I guess when it's time, we'll know... they'll become timeable, more painful or don't go away with walking or resting. If they're going away after an hour, it's not time!

I had 6min apart contractions allllll day today, been losing my mucus plug since yesterday morning... Then they just stopped.. Sooo annoying today is my due date.. Im hoping it starts up again or when I go to my OB appointment Tuesday she sends me to L&D to get the processes further. Sooo frustrating! Good luck!
  • I could have written this post :) Every little cramp and contraction I wonder if it's going to start already! Everyone says ohh you will know! *sigh*
  • Sounds pretty normal to me. I usually get BH while walking around that go away upon lying down. Hopefully they turn into somethivg productive for you soon!

  • It sounds crazy and when people said it to me I didn't believe it until I had my daughter. When you are in labor you will know. There is no way to describe it, you'll just know.

  • i have had steady contractions, cramping, back pain, and overall irritability since friday night. my contractions last night were four minutes apart for about four hours, but never turned into anything painful enough for me to believe i should leave the house. they tapered off around 3am and today is just more of the same ache. getting closer, but not close enough!! come OUT, baby!!

  • I been feeling the same way. I think it's more of my body getting ready for the real thing. If it keeps up always ask the doctor at ur next appointment.
  • I've been having tons of BH these past 2 weeks (38 weeks now). Had the same last pregnancy.

Last time (first pregnancy) I went into labour at 5am. Was woken up with a contraction. I knew immediately that it was real. The location was a little different, and it felt different. For the first hour or so they felt something like period cramps. You will know when you're in labour, if you are wondering, then your are not.
