Hi ladies. I am high risk for PTL this pregnancy due to a prior history of PTL with DS's pregnancy 2.5 years ago. So far this time I have made it farther in terms of no bed rest (did 13 weeks for DS's pregnancy) and my cervix is still long (but soft), but the contractions are far worse this time around. My MFM is trying to avoid complete bed rest, but at this point won't give me anything to control my contractions since so far they aren't changing my cervix. I had a scan this afternoon and my cervix measure at just over 4 cm, but I had several contractions while there and the MFM is having me come back on Monday again for another scan since my contractions are starting to hurt. If my cervix starts to shorten I will be put back on progesterone suppositories.
My question is, has anyone found anything that they can do at home to help control contractions? I have heard Magnesium has shown to help some women, but I haven't heard of much else. I take warm showers to help slow them down, drink SO much water everyday, and pretty much put myself on modified bed rest, but that is near impossible with a 2 year old. I am just wanting to make sure I am doing as much as I can to stay out of L&D. TIA.
