Trouble TTC

New here

Hello everyone. I'm a 29 year old with some unexplained infertility. Backstory: I was on the depo shot for 3 years. After stopping, I didn't get a period for over a year. I wasn't ovulating at all. Saw a RE. Tests have been done n me and DH. no problems with either of us. I did 4 cycles of gonal and trigger shot along with times intercourse. Didn't work. We plan on IUI next month. Any ideas of other things we should be trying? Considering I'm under 30 and we know the depo messed me up for awhile, I'm not at the point desperation yet. I just want to know that we are doing as much as we can within reason. Any support/success stories or advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: New here

  • Hi, thanks for the response. Yes, I did have the HSG. It wasn't my favorite thing in the world but I passed with flying colors :). So far, all testing had been normal other than my progesterone levels which were thought to be caused by the depo provera still being in my system. But even those are fine now.

  • Welcome! I think it sounds like you're on the right path. :-) I'm assuming you're being monitored so you know that you are ovulating and how many follicles you have each cycle? Good luck with your IUI!

  • Welcome, but sorry you find yourself in 3T!

Your plan sounds smart to me. I guess the only surprising part is that you used injects for your first medicated cycles instead of trying Clomid or Femara? Does your RE plan to try a different medication for your IUI?

There won't be many success stories here because most of us are trying for our first, but you'll certainly find plenty of support!

    ***All Welcome***
  • Thank you all for you kind words. The reason I went to injectables is because clomid didn't work for me. My doctors theory is that the Depo I was on basically shut my overys down which I guess it's supposed to do. But, nothing started back up again for over a year. I'm lucky. I have great insurance, I have a doctor who is on the same page as me. Yes, I'm frustrated. Everyone I know is pregnant and it happened for them so quickly. Being somewhat young, I thought it would happen on it's own. I see my doctor tomorrow to star monitoring so we can do IUI. I'm very hopeful but still trying to remain realistic because I know it doesn't always happen the first time around.
  • Also just as an FYI. We've been ttc for a year but that was just using timed intercourse. .
  • Welcome. I hope your stay is short, hun!
