Were early U/S Gender Predictions Correct?

A lot of us were told the gender of our babies during ultrasounds at 12-16 weeks which traditionally has not been possible and caused a lot of controversy on the boards.  I am curious about the accuracy of everyone's early predictions!

I was told I was carrying a girl at 12 weeks and at 20 weeks this was confirmed.

How did everyone else's results turn out?

Re: Were early U/S Gender Predictions Correct?

  • With DS1 we were told around 13 weeks they thought it was a boy, same at 16, and by 20 weeks we could clearly see he was a boy.

With the twins they could not get a clear look until 18weeks. We go back on Monday for our A/s so we will see if the MFM was correct about the sex of the twins.

  • Same. Was given an 80% chance it was a girl at 13 weeks. Confirmed at my 19 week A/S at 99%.

  • I will find out in 2 weeks. DH and I (us) go on the 27th to have the A/S done. My OB said that they are about 75% right. I had an u/s tell at about 15 weeks. (I think!)

  • I was told a boy at 16 weeks, and he is most certainly a boy!
  • With DD they told me they thought she  was a girl at 16 weeks and it was confirmed at the a/s. This time they didn't make an early guess.

We were told girl at 16 weeks and it was confirmed again at 20 weeks.

  • We were told at 12w 'possibly' a boy. Then at 17w definitely a boy. A/S wont technically be til 28 weeks so I have about a month to go til then. But after our scan at 17w, everyone (who sees the u/s pics and dr and u/s tech) is convinced he is really a boy
  • Mine was right too. Girl at 12 weeks, girl at 20 weeks.

  • Mine was wrong. Girl at 12 weeks and most certainly a boy at 20!
  • Mine was predicted boy at 16w, then confirmed boy at the A/S both 19 & 20w
  • We were told boy at 14.5 weeks and it was confirmed at 20 weeks.

We knew from the Panorama results that it's a boy, but it was obvious at the 12 week scan.

  • Our DD was obviously a girl at 16w. Still a girl. :)

  • I was told at 12 weeks, 16 weeks, and 20 weeks that I was having a girl - so it was right for me!  I was also told with DD#1 at 12 weeks that she was a girl also.  With DS, we were told at 16 weeks he was a boy.  So my "early" predictions (directly from my OB) have all been correct.

  • At our NT scan (12w3d) we were told two girls. At our A/S (18w6d) we were told a boy & a girl! So for us early prediction was wrong!

  • I know @PurpleHippo19 was told boy at one point and is now having a girl.
  • At our 12w2d scan, our tech wouldn't guess, but she did humor us with a printout of baby's genital tubercle (the "nub"). It was pointing down, looking very much like girl genitals, and she is in fact a girl.

  • 11w6d the Peri said boy

We confirmed boy at the a/s
  • Our nub shot at 11 weeks said girl, sonogram at 17 weeks said girl, sonogram at 19 weeks said girl and our most recent sonogram at 21 weeks also confirmed girl....so for us everything was right. :-)

I could tell LO was a boy in the middle of the 11th week. He is definitely still a boy. I wasn't sure DD was a girl until 13w6d. I'm a sonographer, by the way.
Oooh cool, so you totally have the inside scoop!

  • At 16 weeks we were told 80% sure it was a girl. We find out Tuesday if that was correct! Can't lie I'm a little anxious but also comforted that most of the predictions here were correct.

  • With ds#1 they said boy at 13 weeks and they were right. With this LO they said boy at 13 weeks and confirmed at 19 weeks. I purposely went to two different sonographers to get two opinions. Lol. I have another u/s at the end of the month so I'll get a triple check. :)
  • Ours was correct - they guessed boy at 12.5w and confirmed at 20.5w!
  • I'm also a sonographer. Angle of the dangle said girl at 12 1/2 weeks. I am without a doubt having a boy.

  • 16 week early ultrasound and it was correct. He's alllll boy!
