Whooping Cough vaccine pain - help

I just got my whooping cough vaccine on Friday. I didn't have any issues that morning or afternoon, but when I got home I felt like my arm was going to fall off and this was followed my a headache (prob from the pain). I haven't been sleeping well bc the shot is on the side that I normally sleep on.

Does anyone have recommendations to relieve the pain?

I took Tylenol the 2nd night after barely sleeping the night after I got the shot. It wasn't as sore the following day. No other advice, sorry. I think ibuprofen works better for this sort of pain but unfortunately we can't take that.

  • I just had to wait it out a couple of days. Got mine Friday afternoon and it's much better now! (That one was a killer though.)

  • My arm hurt for a few days - I was surprised at how long the soreness lasted

  • My arm was definitely sore for a few days.  I asked them to put it in my right arm, even though I usually choose my left arm for vaccines (right handed), but I have been sleeping better on my left side & I also heard that it helps to move the arm around & figured that I move my right arm more than my left.  I used an ice pack a few different times, but really tried to downplay the pain because my H still hasn't had his & I didn't want him to try to wuss out on it!

  • Push ups! Just kidding. Seriously, what everyone else said. The more you work the muscle in your arm, the faster the pain goes away.
  • I had mine last week and my arm was very sore for a few days following. I change position in my sleep a lot and when I would roll to my left side my arm was very painful. It worked itself out on a few days, but carrying around DS was awful! I agree with taking Tylenol and using a heating pad as needed.

  • You don't remember if you've ever had a bad reaction to the tetanus shot do you? I'm allergic to the tetanus shot, so can't do the Tdap till after delivery because of that. Tdap is made of the tetunus vaccine.

  • I was stupid.. After getting mine I fell asleep on the couch for 2 hours while lying on the side I got the shot. So when I woke up I had a knot in my arm and my shoulder hurt for about a week. I took a hot shower hoping it would relieve the soreness and other than that just suffered through it.
