Another question for pet owners.

Alright ladies.  I plan on asking the vet and my OB this question but until that time I thought I'd ask you lovely folks.

We applied Frontline Plus to our pup last night, because, you know we don't want him getting fleas or ticks.  We made him sleep in his kennel (normally he sleeps on the foot of our bed).  What is the safety of Frontline?  I made DH apply it because I was unsure.  Do I need to wait so long before petting him?  I know that the medication absorbs and spreads all over his whole body and that his fur can become quite "greasy" for the next couple of days.

I'm just worried about something absorbing though my skin and harming my sweet babe.  Any experience or advice?  Vets? Vet Techs?  
We are so excited to grow our family!

    After an hour, you're typically fine.  If you're really worried, keep applying it at night or before you leave in the AM so it has time to absorb.

    I typically won't let our pups on the bed for a couple days after we apply and of course I don't pet them near the application site.

    I was thinking about this too.

    A little nervous about this, I may give my vet a call as well. I'll also have someone else apply it.

    Sorry I didn't answer, just happy you mentioned it.

    **Lurking from September Hi :D**

    I was worried about this with our pets and I babbled to the vet about it and he was able to give us a flea/tick repellent pill. (Although he assured me the topical was also completely safe, I just needed to wash my hands after petting to be sure.) I'm not sure what it was called since DH handles most of the pet/vet business, but they take it once a month and I guess it makes their blood poisonous to fleas.  We haven't had an outbreak yet and our fur babies have been healthy and fine (both cats and the dog),

    I give my dogs the pill too. It's called trifexis. At least the one we give them is called that. It's their heartworm/anti flea/hookworm treatment. It's not cheap. My husband buys it online, but it's still over $100 for 6 pills.

    @sabby2 We were told by the Vet when I was pregnant with DS that right after application of Frontline, that our bulldog should not be on our bed or on the couches. He told us the next day it was fine for me to be in close proximity to her. I just stayed away from snuggling with her for the 24 hours following the application.

    Edit: Also, the Vet told us that I should NOT apply it to her, that H should.

    We also have the pill one. To me it's about the same because those damn heart worm pills are so expensive. Might as well get it all in one!
