hard upper stomach at 17 weeks?

I'm 17 weeks and this week especially I've noticed that my upper stomach is really hard and uncomfortable. right below my boobs. It's worse after I eat ... Is this normal? At this point I feel like I look 30 weeks and not 17!

  • Your uterus might just be really high. Mine is the same. I noticed it getting really high around that time I would say. I'm 24 weeks now. I noticed it start to get hard right under my bra so sometimes it even hurts to wear one.

I would guess it's gas, acid reflux or other stomach discomfort.  Have you tried tums or pepcid or gasX?

  • My guess is it's GI issues too. I've been having pretty bad heartburn, reflux this week too. I think my uterus is maybe a finger width from my belly button too so it may be a tiny bit high for 17 weeks, maybe I'm experiencing the discomfort some do around that period. Nurse said to try and take zantac every day instead of just when symptoms hit. I keep forgetting it at home! Right now my coffee is getting me reflux!

I've had reflux too this pregnancy.  It's awful.  I've been taking Pepcid, and it helps a little, but I'm afraid I'll need something stronger once the baby gets bigger.

  • I'm starting to notice the same and I'm 16 weeks 3 days.  I think you're probably just carrying high and things just get cramped in there when you eat. =]
