3rd Trimester

36.3 weeks.. Contractions?

Hi all.. Had a exam on Wednesday and Friday morning I was bleeding.. Not a lot but not a little either.. So went to the dr, where I was told it was problay just because of the exam I had on Wednesday.. After having me on the monitors, they showed I was having contractions. They were like mild period cramps and I could feel them. They checked me again and said my cervix was closed and I was most likely dehydrated causing contractions. Well today, Saturday, I've been contracting all day! Sometimes minutes apart and sometimes here and there.. Started bleeding again too.. I'm assuming it was because I got checked again.. I'm just nervous!!! Is this normal? Do I go back in to to the hospital.. Wait it out? OMG it's too soon!!!

  • My doc's guidelines are more than 5 in an hour deserves a call in. I'm only 28w though. I'd call just for peace of mind.

  • At 36 weeks they will not stop your labor, if in fact you are in labor, which means that unless your contractions are getting stronger and longer, lasting for at least 1 minute and coming every 5 minutes then you will be sent home.

You could just be having prodromal labor which can last days or weeks before active labor. Try drinking more water, taking a warm bath, and relaxing. Contractions are normal, and it is your body preparing for labor. I honestly wouldn't stress out about it, just try to take it easy.
