Hi everyone! Quick intro: My name is Beth, I'm 35 and pregnant with my first (it's a girl!), due October 8th...yikes! Hubby and I have been married since October 2003, so we're super excited to finally get lucky with this pregnancy
Pregnancy had been going pretty well up until last week when I started this random blacking out business. The first time I was at work and it hit me out of nowhere. I was sitting down, chatting with a coworker, when I started to get that fuzzy in the head feeling, kinda sweaty, and then really nauseous. I stood up to get to the restroom and I supposedly collapsed in my coworkers arms. I felt okay once I sat for a while and got some crackers and juice in me. A couple hours later when I left work, I still felt fine, just worn out. I drove almost 30 minutes home and got maybe 7 houses away from mine and blacked out again but this time came to with my car on the wrong side of the road and a telephone pole in the hood of my car

. I was taken to the hospital and got CT scans of my head/neck and of course ultrasound to make sure baby was okay (thank goodness all was well!!!). A week later, a total of 5 of these episodes, holter monitor for my heart, echocardiograms, ekgs, blood work, ultrasound to check for DVT, and still no real answer. The cause seems to be blood pressure dropping drastically (last one was 74/46). Speculation is that baby is pressing on my vena cava, restricting blood flow back to my heart and brain fast enough. I've only been told to stay hydrated, increase salt, and try to shift to my left or right when sitting, and sleep on my left side.
Anyone else ever experience anything like this?? Not that I have a car to drive anymore, but I'm terrified to get behind the wheel again for the next 4 months!

I hope you have no more incidents.
First off Welcome and Congrats!
Secondly. That is so scary. Hopefully you and your doctor will figure out your trigger points and be able to limit those. When my SIL was pregnant, her blood pressure would drop really low. She had to be hospitalized for most of her pregnancy due to it. She could not even lift her head without getting dizzy.
Also hope that the doctors can find an answer quickly to help you and baby.
Stay safe/
I've dealt with black outs since middle school. I've gotten to be such a pro that I can navigate my house when I'm blacked out without running into anything. In High School I went through a tilt table test where they hooked me up to every monitor they could and strapped me to a table that moved around until I passed out; to see what triggers it. I fainted in the standing position. They decided that my blood rushes to my head when I stand up, but doesn't go down as quickly as it should, resulting in my black outs. Luckily that was one of the few times I blacked out. I was told to increase my salt & red meat intake, and was put on medication that I no longer take.
I hope that the tips your Dr gave you help you out. That's a scary situation, especially when you're carrying a LO!! T&P!
P.S. Pretzels and pickles, mmmm
My niece is 9 1/2 now. She and mom are good.
My brother had her decided that adoption was a much safer route to go and we now have a niece and nephew.
