DH and I had our newborn class last night and the instructor had us write down what we are going to do after the baby is born to help make life easy and spend more time with LO.
One idea was to use all paper plates to help eliminate dishes. Another was hire a yard person.
Any other ideas?

We've also agreed that we're going to be more careful about our own laundry. Unless it's stained or stinky it ain't getting washed.

You can check out living social and groupon for deals on house cleaning also. I've seen some around $50-60 for a whole house deep clean with baseboards and windows (interior side) included. That's what I plan on doing once a month the first few months.
Paper plates is a good idea! I've made up a menu for the first 2 weeks after baby comes. Includes frozen meals and take-out, and easy meals. I just have 2 more frozen meals to make and I'm done.
One thing I've done with both older kids is to keep up on all my household chores, and once baby comes home I don't do anything for 2 weeks. No bathroom cleaning, no dusting, no vacuuming. Of course, you have to do laundry and dishes, but nothing beyond that. I've found that after 2 weeks I can get back into the weekly cleaning.
Luckily my DH and I are pretty neat people, so the house won't get too bad, at least clutter-wise. Even my boys are good at picking up (with a little prodding).
Unfortunately, when you already have 2 older kids you can only take it easy for so long!

LOL I'm fairly certain my memories start a good 4-6 weeks after mine was born. Before that there was the whole c-section recovery thing and getting used to not sleeping.
I had time to eat during the day, but the witching hour was baaaaaaaadddd for us for months and months so dinners were actually pretty hard. I was too busy trying to plan my escape than to worry about well balanced meals.
I will also add, Ensure drinks. Sometimes two of those would be the only things I'd have until DH got home from work.
andplusalso, SHOWERING IS OVERRATED!
My house is a mess anyway, it's hard to keep up with the mess from two large dogs and a toddler.
