We'd like to name our next one Genevieve Grace. I thought occasionally calling her GiGi is cute. But, is it getting too common? My son has a GiGi in his class currently. Do you guys all know a GiGi?
Only Gigi girls I know are from Gilmore Girls (later character Georgia) and Grandmas are sometimes called Gigi. I think it's an adorable nickname. The three ladies I know named Genevieve go by Gen, Jenna and Genny.
My daughter calls my mom Gigi. My mom refused to be called grandma and thinks she is younger than she is. But, it is nice to have a different name since she already had a Grandma lined up. That way she doesn't get confused on who we are talking about.
My boys call my mom GG (GiGi). Since they have 2 grandma's we offered them the chance to be called something else if they wanted for clarification. My mom has a friend who is called GG, which is short for Gorgeous Grandma She and my MIL love that they both have their own 'name'. That being said, I've never met anyone that actually went by GiGi on a daily basis. I think you're pretty safe with that nickname!
When my brother had his daughter we started calling my stepdads mom G.G. Short for Great Grandma. That's the only one I know. I think it's adorable for a little girl.
Me: 33 - PCOS & Hypothyroidism
DH: 35 - SA is good
Married since 2010 (together since 2006)
TTC since June 2009 (we knew we would have issues and wanted family right away after we got married).
No pregnancies yet.
May 2013 - started first round of Chlomid & ovidrel cycle.
The only GiGi I know is a fabulous/stylish woman with it all in her 30's. I think the popularity of the name might be regional with more instances on the east coast where there is a larger Italian population. Not sure where you're from, but something to consider if you're worried about popularity.
I am a teacher and I have had two Gigis in the past 13 years...one was a Giselle and the other one, I can't remember, I just swear that I had another one at some point. I did have the Giselle Gigi for two years in a row, so maybe that's what I am thinking of;) Go for it!
