Short Cervix w/ Twins Success Story

Hi all, I've never posted in one of these forums before but after going through a very difficult multiples pregnancy I feel compelled to post my story. I hope it will give hope to other women pregnant with twins diagnosed with a short cervix. At 23.5 weeks I was diagnosed with a short cervix. At the time my doctor said it wasn't so bad because it was 2 cm. Apparently a cervix is only considered short if it is under 2.5 cm. The doctor inserted a pessary, but did not recommend bed rest. According to the doctors I've spoken with, there is no data showing that bed rest works. A week later I went back for a measurement and found out that I lost almost a whole centimeter of my cervix. My cervix was down to 1.1 cm. I was devastated and terrified. The doctor then put me on vaginal progesterone suppositories and bed rest. I took the bed rest very seriously and for the next three weeks my cervix was stable at about 0.8 cm. Along with my weekly cervical measurements, I received weekly FFN tests. They all came back negative. Then at around 28 weeks, my cervix shortened again to 0.4 cm. The doctor stopped doing FFN tests because she said they weren't reliable with a cervix that short. I received the steroid shots at that time. At 30 weeks I went to the hospital for some spotting and found out I was dilated 1 to 2 cm. I was monitored for contractions and released the next day because I was not having any. At around 32 weeks I started having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions, so the doctor checked my cervix and found out I was dilated 3 cm. Again, the doctor gave me the steroid shots. The last time my cervix was checked at 35 weeks it was still 3 cm. As I write this post, I am 35 weeks, 5 days and still pregnant. My doctors never thought I'd make it this far. In fact, my doctor initially said her goal for me was only 32 weeks. I think one thing to keep in mind is that the doctors really don't have data on twins and short cervix. They don't know what works to prevent preterm labor in this situation. But as my story shows, you can make it very far in a multiples pregnancy with a very short cervix.
