Dating question and advice

So I'm a divorced mom and have been single for quite some time and am ready to date again. My BIL has a really sweet buddy of his who is also divorced, no kids. I met him at a party around Christmas and then added him as a friend on fb awhile back. We have chatted just a little bit since then but nothing more than "Happy New Year", "Merry Christmas" and the like. Nothing too deep. I'm really interested in him and I'm pretty sure he isn't seeing anyone... so I was wondering what people do in this day- is it still usually the guy asking the girl out for a date or does it go either way? Its been a long time since I've dated (think back to college days) and I'm kind of afraid to make any kind of move because I don't know if he's interested in me, but then again, what do I have to lose, right? Your thoughts Parenting?

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • ask him to meet up for coffee.  that's about as low pressure as you could get.

however long the night, dawn will break.

  • I am a big old chicken, so I would probably hint to your BIL to invite the both of you over for hanging out, BBQ type of a thing.  Then maybe you can get a better read on his interest level?

This is a great idea if you want to get a better read. If not then go for it

  • @mbenit4- I can always count on you for honest advice ;) (not kidding, he hasn't really shown interest and that bums me out big time)

When I was a single mother I did online dating awhile and it really helped me get back in the game.  I never found true love through it, but I had fun and had some nice dates.  It also helps a lot with the shy factor.

Personally I would only use legit sites though, not Plenty of Fish or any of the other free ones.  Too many weirdos.  (Not meant to cause offense to anyone who meet their SO on PoF).
