Sorry I kind of fell off the earth (for anyone who remembers me) things have been stressful but husband and I have decided to switch from DS to IVF using his sperm. We have our first IVF appointment with our FS and I suddenly feel overwhelmed and like I'm forgetting all the important questions I need to ask. What do you think the most important thing is to ask at your first IVF appointment?

Hello! I would ask about protocol and weekend schedules. The RE covered a good amount of info, and I end up learning more from the IF board anyways b/c my mind always goes blank at the RE's office.

I feel like such a heal but I have been so depressed since my appointment I haven't been able to go near a computer.

Turns out I am too fat for IVF.

Apparently you have to be under a certin BMI and my fatass is over it. We are meeting again in July to see if I can go then but the look on her face said it will never happen.

I'm pretty sure I have ruined my husband's life.

Thank you for all your kind thoughts, I clearly didn't desreve them.

@tifga I'm so sorry. :-( I know some clinics are very picky because they want to pad their SART data. I bet if you called around you could find a clinic willing to work with you. Screw them!

Husband won't look for a second opnion I don't know why.

I think he blames me because he won't talk to me much since it happened.

I really ruined everything.

Whoah whoah whoah. Cheer up. Something can be done, and you haven't ruined anyone's life! Did they explain to you the cutoff? Is it reasonable to expect that you could make it below the cutoff with lifestyle changes and medical help? Can you get a second opinion? What exactly is the plan for the July consult? Sorry for so many questions, but we have to get you out of this slump. There must be a way, and you can't stay depressed forever. You absolutely deserved our well wishes and still do. Being overweight does not define you.

You posted right before I could, thought about editing, but will post again. It's been about 2 weeks since the appointment and you're still really not speaking? This isn't healthy for either of you. Please, please, can you get some help from a therapist? Separately initially, then together perhaps? Infertility (and marriage for that matter) is a team sport and this is a hard blow, but you need to heal this rift in your relationship. ((((hugs))))

The look on her face says she doesn't think I can do it I'm already down 10 lbs from what my family doctor had said earlier that week. Acording to their math I just need to lose 10, acording to my math I need to lose 20. It is all based on BMI and I worry they did their math wrong.

I want a second opnion but husband doesn't want to look for one.

I don't know why she wants to meet again in July she just said she did so I agreed.

I don't blame husband for being mad at me, when we first left he knew I could do it but now he doesn't realy want to talk. Guess he lost faith in me.

@tifga I feel your pain as I too need to loss more weight before they will consider me for IVF. I tried explaining to our RE that with each month of not getting pregnant over the past 2 years I have gained several pounds each month and I have really found myself in deep shit now. I told him if he was in my life back then I wouldn't be in this mess but sadly I am so I need to do something about it!

I understand why they want my BMI to be lower, but it does incredibly hurt that now this is on my shoulders. If you want an accountability buddy or someone to check in that is on the journey as you feel free to message me!

Loss Mentioned

Husband is just angry everything bad keeps happening to me and he didn't want to talk to me about it because he didn't want it to be my problem to deal with. Boys can be so dumb. He was all ragey on my behalf the other day when he found out his other sister is also pregnant and I lost my baby.

I am slowly convining him we need a second opnion he is just afriad getting a new Dr. will mean completely starting over.
