Big Fat SURPRISE!!!!

Hi, Ladies!!!
Well, I never thought I'd find myself here again. Lol.
We have a DD-8 & DS-5

At 40 last year, (both) my husband & I decided that we weren't having anymore kids.
I always wanted one more though, but life happens & we felt it was too late.

Had the Merina removed last year, so periods were very irregular. (DH was going to have a Vasectomy.)
I was using contraceptives though.

Well, last week I realized I'd been having similar symptoms to my 1st 2 pregnancies. Dry skin, heartburn, fatigue, & a tightening belly etc.

So I decided at 1:30am at night (I'm a night owl) to take a test.
DARK PINK LINES!!!!
I was in complete & utter SCHOCK.
I re-tested the next morning - same result...

So, here I am 6w 4d pregnant. First OB visit Thursday.
I love surprises - especially this kind - but it is a challenge to wrap my head around it.

I hope I can find some AMA Mammas to walk this road with.
Due date: Beginning Jan., but I'll probably have a c-section end of Dec.

@moroccojade - We were going to tell them yesterday, but I was told by OB I'm a week earlier than we thought. I just guestimated my 1st day of the last period (because of my eratic cycle)...
:-/ So we decided to wait until the next u/s & see if they can get a heartbeat etc. at my June 2 appointment... Just want to protect their hearts..

Congrats and welcome. You are not alone. I have a 5 year old son. My body stopped responding to the pill last year and I was open to another child, but DH was not. Went to my midwife who explained that a combo of the withdrawal methods and rythmn methods was almost as effective as condoms so that was what we used. My periods were regular an so was my ovulation so I was not too worried about timing. I decided that if I turned 39 and we had not decided to try for another that I would also be done. Well, lo and behold, I turned 39 in December and one month later we got pregnant when I ovulated much later than normal! It was definitely an overwhelming and exciting surprise! And it turns out it has done unexpected wonders for my marriage (which was ok to begin with). DH (who works and travels a lot) is so excited and has jumped right in to help with everything house and family-related as I have been super sick. And DS is thrilled as well. While I am usually a very planned out person, I am finding it wonderful to be on this unanticipated journey. Best of luck to you for a healthy and successful pregnancy.
