Trouble TTC

4th iui today, nervous and looking for support

Hi, this is the first time I've ever posted. I've had 2 unsuccessful iui's and one on Tuesday. Follicle study yesterday said I did not ovulate so dr ordered profasi injection and iui for today. My last 2 iui's were painful. Tuesday was the worst - I think the dr had trouble reaching my cervix. Bleeding and pain after- I thought, "ok, if this doesn't take, I have a month to recover...." But here I am, waiting for my husband so I can take the specimen to the lab for the wash. I'm very nervous and worried about the pain. Didn't mean to ramble on, but that's my story :)

Does anyone have suggestions for staying calm before/during the procedure? My husband can't be there with me today :/

I don't have much to offer, but I try to focus on your breath and try to remain calm. I've had 4 and my hubby hasn't been inside the office with my on any of them. Some have been more painful than others, but the one I had last week was a breeze. I think when your body is more ready and closer to ovulation your cervix is looser so it does make it easier. That's my guess. Good luck today!

  • So sorry about the pain you've experienced! I'm afraid of the same when going in for IUI#1 in a few days. Perhaps remind yourself how strong you are because you've been through it before? I plan to remind myself that it is my small way to participate in the pains of pregnancy! I hope you won't have to go through it again after this cycle. :)

  • I know this always sounds way easier said than done, but try to relax your vaginal muscles.  We tend to clench them when we anticipate pain or discomfort and that can make the experience that much worse.  Take deep breaths while they do the IUI.  That's what I do when it starts to hurt and it helps a bit.

And just remember it will all be over soon!

  • Thanks everyone! Fingers crossed!!
  • Just know that we all are thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers that all goes well for you today!!
  • Hope it went well.
Ready to take the road less traveled.
  • I may be late but I play games on my phone when I get stressed and waiting at a Dr's office. It kinda keeps my mind off of things. Good luck!
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • Thanks so much to all of you! This time was nowhere near as painful or difficult as the one on Tuesday. Whew! And DH even was able to break away from his office and surprise me. Held my hand through the whole thing. I did tell the dr I want this to be the last iui. So I get progesterone levels checked in a week. Ultrasound tomorrow to see if I ovulated. Now, to stay calm and wait :) thanks for the support!
  • Thank you thank you! I'm glad I found this message board - it is hard to share these things with friends and family. I will post more often. It has been such a journey and I don't know how much further I can take it.
