Everyone invited, they attended, brought a gift, it is the right thing to do.

Make one per family, people don't want four trinkets per family.

Re: Party Favors?

  • I do favors for kids, if I have a ton of kids I do one per family but have shareable stuff. For Ty's bday we are doing a coloring book, crayons, a couple of the small play dough jars and a beach ball in a sand bucket. Total of $4.50 per favor (plus tax).

For the adults I usually make cookies and send them home with a couple in a favor bag that says thank you.

  • I didn't vote yet because it kind of depends on what you are doing for favors...
My friend had a party for her 2 year old and she did bubbles as favors. There were plenty for all the kids, plus clearly enough that if a family wanted to snag an extra bottle or if adults just wanted some bubbles (because who doesn't love bubbles) they could, but they weren't handed to each person.

  • We did kids only.  They got a little candy, a small thing of bubbles, a bouncy ball, a little bag of goldfish, and something else I am forgetting...

I have never gone to a birthday party of any kind and expected a favor as an adult.  Or as a child for that matter.

Bubbles are a great idea! I was going to do a little bag with a sports ball of some type (very small), a bag of cracker Jack's and some twizzlers. It is a spor

Maybe just get extra cracker jacks and let adults take them if they want?

Eta: put them in a basket that says "thanks for coming."

For a birthday party, kids only.  I have never been to a birthday party that had favors for adults; I have only seen favors for adults at showers.
  • I'm going to hijack. I was trying to figure this out for mister's party. It is just adults and all family. Do I need favors. I was thinking lollipops with a label with mister's name. Do adults really need/want a lollipop? It's a jungle/safari theme if someone has a good idea that's not expensive.
  • I have sugar cookies made in the age they are turning, wrap them and have everybody take some home.

K's party theme is pink lemonade and sunshine so we are doing lemonade favors for each family, kind of like the one in the pic but not so elaborate. And we are also going to have little bubble bottles and pinwheels on the tables that the kids can take home. image

  • I am anti-favors.  Maybe when DD is older and has a kid party but not now.

Oh, well if you do cookies, make some for the adults too ;-)
  • We had a baseball party and had cracker jacks with a "thanks for swinging by" affix to them. One for each invited guest
  • There will be 4 kids at our LO's party, I'm thinking of just doing bubbles or something small for them. And then each family will be getting a first birthday photo of DD.

  • DS is 5 and making the birthday party rounds big time these days.  The best favors in my opinion are books.  I don't like the bags of crap (cheap plastic toys, candy, etc) that most people do, but of course the kids like that stuff.  For his first birthday, I did little bags of puppy chow (the Chex Mix) because it was a puppy themed party.

DD . . . I didn't do favors, but the kids had a pinata to whack open.

  • When did the whole party favor explosion start? When I was a kid a birthday party was about getting to hang out with with friends/family and celebrate. Jeez I feel like such an old lady when I say that but I seriously feel like the "favor" is the cake and food/snacks. I know people have been doing this for awhile but it just seems so odd to me. We get gifts for people because we generally enjoy buying things for people to see their reaction when they open them not because I want some cheap junk that someone felt obligated to provide.

  • I won't be doing favors this year. I've done them for my older kids in the past. I think they are silly for 1 year olds.
We are having lots of kids (cousins) and I'm about maybe getting a piñata for them so they can have fun. I'm also thinking of getting a bounce house to keep them out of my hair and busy. One year old parties are kinda boring, imho... Esp for older kids.

  • Until the kids are old enough to enjoy a little gift bag, they're pretty dumb.  I did extra cupcakes in cute boxes for everyone to take home because who doesn't love a cupcake?

We always got goody bags when I was a kid. I don't think it's an explosion but maybe it's regional?
