Nope. I'm not a fan of cervical checks. They are painful and pretty useless in my opinion. Being effaced/dilated is no indication of when you will go into labor. You could be high and closed and go into labor that night, or you could be 3cm and walk around that way for weeks. Not to mention the more hands up there the more bacteria that is being introduced. No thanks.
I hate cervical checks with the fire of a thousand suns so I haven't had any. Your cervix has to soften in order to efface and dilate so soft at this point is normal and good. Not being dilated yet doesn't mean much though.

I had mine checked Tuesday only because I am having a lot of pressure and pain down there and it feels like she is wanting to "fall out". I was 75% and 2cm at 34w 1d. I was hooked up to check for contractions and then given a shot to stop them. I don't know what it all means either.
I hate being checked as well. It hurts every time and makes me want to puke. They checked me a week ago because of my contractions and I was still pretty high but my doctor could feel the head which is awesome because I had been breech. He did a quick check with the ultrasound to make sure. He thinks a lot of my symptoms were from the baby turning. I was 0.5cm dilated but he said that it doesn't mean much and I could go anytime or be pregnant for at least 4 more weeks. He usually doesn't even check because things can change so quickly.
